1530712 Engine air intakes VEREINIGTE FLUGTECHNISCHE WERKE FOKKER GmbH 15 March 1976 [15 March 1975] 10289/76 Heading F1G The invention relates to an air intake for an aircraft engine, in which an auxiliary air intake opening controlled by a pivotally-mounted flap valve is provided. A wall of the air intake duct is indicated at 2 in Fig. 2, an auxiliary air intake opening being formed in the wall, the opening being controlled by a flap valve 3 which is pivotally mounted at point 9 on the intake structure. A link 4 is pivotally connected to the flap valve at point 8 in the mid-region thereof, the end of the link being pivotally connected at point 6 to the piston-rod of a damper 1, the cylinder of which is pivotally mounted on the intake structure also at the point 9. The link 4 is pivotally connected at an intermediate point 7 to a link 5 which is pivotally connected at its other end to a point 10 on the intake structure. The object of the invention is to damp closing movement of the flap valve. The linkage system is also illustrated diagrammatically in Fig. 2. The arrangement of the flap valve when in its fully open position is shown in Fig. 3 (not shown). A constructional arrangement is shown in Fig. 4, the flap valve being shown at 103 in the closed position, the valve being pivotally mounted at the point 109. The link corresponding to link 4 of Fig. 2 is shown at 104 pivotally connected to the flap valve at point 108. The link 105 (corresponding to link 5) is pivotally connected to intake structure 102 at point 110 and to the link 104 at point 107. The damper cylinder 101 is pivotally mounted at point 112 and the piston rod thereof is pivotally connected to the link 104 at the point 107 (and not at a point 6 as in Fig. 2).
