1485477 Vapour generators KRAFTWERK UNION AG 22 Nov 1974 [26 Nov 1973] 50797/74 Heading F4A A vapour generator, having a housing 1 into which liquid to be vaporized (water) is passed and which contains a nest of U-tubes 13 extending between inlet and outlet chambers 5, 6 for heating fluid (e.g. pressurized water), is provided with duct means to direct liquid to be vaporized to two regions of the lower end of the tube nest: to the periphery of the nest, and to a central region of the next; to the latter by a route substantially unobstructed by tubes. A jacket 15 extends around the tubes and defines with the housing wall a down space 18 for water inlet at 20. Openings in the jacket correspond to a region 23 between the limbs 10, 11 of the U- tubes and this region is lined with walls 25, 26, 27 which are joined to the jacket and define a central duct 28 for the water. At its lower end the duct 28 is constricted by inclined plates 30, 31 to funnel water via openings 34, 35 in the plates 25, 26 on to the centre of the U-tube nest and the relative size of the openings 34, 35 is arranged to direct more water on to the hot limb 10 of the tube nest. Three apertured rings 36, 37 (movable) and 38 (fixed) can be adjusted to control water flow in down space 18. Known steam generators, comprising a housing and an I-tube bundle, mounted in a common tube plate, surrounded by a casing, the walls of which form an annular groove with the housing, and slotted channels between the pipe bends, with perforated plates 1 installed in the annular channel. This device is closest to the invention. Its disadvantage is the increased hydraulic resistance due to the presence of perforated plates in the annular channel, installed to increase the uniformity of water supply to the heated pipes. The purpose of the invention is to increase the efficiency of the steam generator by reducing the hydraulic resistance and increasing the uniformity of the water supply to the greyhtz beam.
