    1530340 Pipe couplings F I P FORMATURA INIEZIONE POLIMERI SpA 14 Dec 1976 [31 Dec 1975] 52064/76 Heading F2G A radially split clamping ring 1 of synthetic plastics material for insertion in a pipe connecting sleeve comprises a frusto-conical outer surface 2 and an inner surface formed with teeth 3 to penetrate the outer surface of a pipe, one of the teeth being formed on a metal ring 30 housed in an annular step 35 in the ring 1 and effectively embedded within the ring 1 by a locking ring 40 of the same material as the ring 1 and having teeth 41 to penetrate a surface 37 in the ring 1 under the effect of applied pressure, the rings 1, 40 being fused together by ultrasonic welding. Alternatively the metal ring 30 may be arranged within the mould used for forming the ring 1 prior to moulding thereof.

    Two cylindrical surfaces 7 and 8, which are interconnected by a jumper 9. A ring 5 is mounted on an annular protrusion 10, which is provided on the inner surface of the ring 1. the support surface 12, lying in the same plane as the jumper 9, and also from the cylindrical surface 13.
    Therefore, after the intermediate ring 5 is installed between the cylindrical surfaces 7 and 8, there remains an annular space suitable for mounting the locking ring 14 for the intermediate ring 5.
    The locking ring 14 has serrated projections 15 on its lower surface. Under the influence of pressure force, the surface of the locking ring 14 and its side surface are welded to the flat surface 12 and to the cylindrical surface 13 of the step 11, forming one whole. After this welding
