An illuminator, particularly for street lighting and industrial applications, comprising a light source including a gas discharge tube, a closed outer vessel for receiving the gas discharge tube, composed from a rear half part and a front half part for forwarding light of the light source, at least the front half part made of light transparent material, light reflecting means covering partly the inner surface of the rear half part of the outer vessel, mechanical fitting elements and electric connecting means, wherein the front half part and the rear half part both are symmetric to at most two symmetry planes and one of the symmetry planes includes the longitudinal axis of the gas discharge tube and constitutes the symmetry plane of the light emitted by the light source. The proposed illuminator require small place and is hardly subject to contamination originated from the environment.

The lamp-lamp contains a hermetic flask 1, consisting of back 2 and front 3 halves, which are welded to each other along the plane 4 of the joint, both halves are symmetrical with respect to two mutually perpendicular planes, the discharge tube 5.
The axis 6 of the gas discharge tube 5 lies in the vertical plane. The rear half 2 of the bulb 1 is made with a reflective coating 7 on the inner surface, and contains cavities 8 and 9 symmetrical with respect to the vertical plane, separated by a protrusion 10, as well as projections 11–13 whose bearing surface coincides with a joint plane of 4 half flasks
The lamp luminaire may contain an additional discharge tube 14, the axes of the discharge tube 5 and the additional discharge tube 14 are the same. The terminals 15 and 16 of the gas discharge tube 5 are passed through the back half 2 of the bulb 1 and are connected to terminals 17 and 18.

Lamp-lamp works as follows.
The fixture of the lamp-lamp is carried out with the help of protrusions 11-13C. Since the supporting surface of the protrusions 11-13 coincides with the plane A, the position of the bulb 1 and, consequently, the light beam of the lamp-lamp remains constant when replaced. Tightness of a flask provides high operational characteristics of a lamp lamp during all service life.

1. A lamp lamp containing a gas discharge tube, a sealed flask consisting of the front and back halves, the connecting plane of the halves parallel to the gas discharge tube, and a reflecting coating is made on the back half of the flask, characterized in that In order to expand the operational capabilities, the bulb is made with two planes of symmetry, perpendicular to each other and the plane of connection of the halves of the bulb, with one of the indicated planes of symmetry passing through the axis of the gas discharge tube.
