Method and apparatus for analyzing whole blood samples which feature impregnating a gel medium used for the analysis of the whole blood sample with an inert substance. When the whole blood sample is placed on the gel medium, the inert substance diffuses from the gel as the plasma solutes of the blood diffuse into the gel. The amount of the inert substance diffusing from the gel medium is inversely proportional to the hematocrit of the blood sample. In one embodiment, plasma solutes are caused to react with one or more reagents in the gel medium to assay various specific analytes. Also, the hematocrit, indicated by the diffusion rate of the inert substance from the gel, is determined and used to correct such assay.

The method is carried out in a skinny manner.
Vitamin B preparation, in an agarose gel.
A 25 ml Erlenmeyer flask is added. 0.1 g of agar and 9.0 ml of PBS (phosha-te beffered salim) containing 80 ml 0.1 M 20 ml 0.1 M:
8.5 g of NaCl and 0.2 g of NaN ,, pH 7.3. The flask is placed in a boiling bath.

A method for analyzing a sample of whole blood by placing it on the surface of a gel, separating the solid and liquid phases, followed by analyzing the analytes inside the liquid phase and inside the gel, in that, with: the aim of improving the accuracy of the analysis, an agarose gel containing the dye, vitamin B, and the gel containing the reagent for the analyte, the analysis is performed spectrophotometrically, the hematocrit number is additionally determined by the amount of vitamin B diffusing from the gel, the analyte concentration is determined by the cta its color reaction, the concentration of which is adjusted in accordance with the defined by the hematocrit.

Preparation of gels for analysis on albumin.
