专利说明:

Since the staple cartridge holds staples for thin bundles, satisfactory stapling will not occur if it is desired to staple a thicker bundle. Nor is the stapling satisfactory if staples for thick bundles are used when thinner bundles are stapled. Further. Due to the fact that the staple stroke is performed regardless of which staple fits in the cassette, each staple stroke will be performed based on the assumption that the cassette is loaded with staples that are most energy-intensive. In addition to this leading to unnecessary energy consumption, an increased noise level is also created, which can be troublesome as fl your staplers are placed in the same room and run at the same time. Furthermore, this also means that the stapler is exposed to unnecessary wear.
In addition, these previous cassettes do not provide information on how many staples are left in the cassette at any given time. This can lead to bundles becoming unstitched due to the cassette being empty when the staple is ordered or a series of staples greater than the number of remaining staples being ordered. In addition, there is a risk that the user will not order a new cassette in time when this becomes necessary.
U.S. Pat. No. 6,715,654 describes a staple cassette which has means which, in cooperation with the stapler in which it is mounted, enable the user to be able to ascertain which staple size is stored in the cassette. And also if the cassette holds staples or is empty. The ability to determine which staple size is stored in the cassette has the advantage of knowing how thick a bundle can be stapled without problems and the advantage of being able to ascertain that the cassette is empty is that it is easy to see that empty impact stapling does not have to occur. However, there is no indication in this patent that these parameters are used to prevent an empty hinge from being performed. The patent US 6474633 discloses a cassette having means which cooperate with means in the stapling apparatus in such a way that it is possible to determine which staple size is stored in the cassette. This patent also does not suggest that the staple stroke is prevented if the wrong staple size is used, or if the cartridge is empty, but the knowledge of the staple size is used only to adjust the staple stack.
IP 2002-196135 shows a cassette which is provided with detection means which detect how much staple is left in the cassette. This member comprises a part located in the cassette which is read by a member located outside the cassette. However, this reading is very inaccurate and the measured value is not used in any other way than that it enables the user to estimate how many staples are left in the cassette.
US 4978045 discloses a stapler which has a sensing means located outside the cassette which registers the contents of the cassette in such a way that when the contents are substantially consumed this is registered on a display which can be read by the users of the stapler. However, this invention is such that the reading only provides information that the staple stock of the cassette is largely consumed, so that no read values for controlling the stapler in addition to final consumption are obtained. Due to the fact that the reading means is located on the outside of the cassette, this becomes sensitive to interference, which is why the read values can become uncertain.
Common to all these previous cassettes, however, is that they either do not have bodies that prevent an empty arrest or that they have bodies that provide only limited information about the contents of the cassette or that reading values due to the construction of the cassettes become very uncertain. The invention; Purpose There is thus a need to provide a cassette having such a construction that it securely provides information about its contents in such a way as to prevent idle stapling and securely conveys information about its contents for controlling the stapling stroke of the stapler and for the use of the stapler.
There is also a need to provide a stapler that is adapted to be used in conjunction with such a cartridge.
Brief Description of the Invention The present invention provides a staple cartridge having the above-mentioned characteristics with a staple cartridge of the type indicated in the introduction which is characterized in that a part of the electrical circuit is arranged for the staple cartridge.
Furthermore, the present invention is characterized in that the part of the circuit arranged to the staple cartridge comprises means which can store information about the contents of the staple cartridge.
The invention is also characterized in that said means is a memory circuit. The invention is also characterized in that said information comprises information on the size of the staple stored in the cassette. Furthermore, the invention is characterized in that the information comprises the number of staples remaining in the cassette.
In addition, the present invention provides a stapler which has a circuit which closes with the circuit provided for the staple cartridge.
Brief Description of the Figures The present invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Fig. 1 is a schematic view of a stapler with a mounted cassette according to the present invention; Fig. 2 is a view showing a staple cartridge according to the present invention; Fig. 3 is a view showing an alternative embodiment of the circuit included in the stapler; Preferred Embodiment Figure 1 shows a very schematic view of a stapler 1 embodying the present invention. The assembly shows that the stapler comprises a base part 2 and a staple part 3. Which are rotatably connected to a rotary shaft 4. The base part 2 and the staple part 3 can be moved around and about the rotary shaft 4 in the stapling movement marked with the double arrow V. arranged an anvil 5 on which the workpiece 6 to be stapled is placed. To the staple part 3 is arranged a staple cassette 7 in which staples 8 are stored in roll form and to which a driver 9 is arranged. . In the base part 2 an electrically driven motor 10 is placed which is connected via an intermediate link 11 to a drive arm 12 which is also rotatably mounted to the rotary shaft 4 and at its opposite end connected to the driver 9.
Arranged to the base part 2 is a feeding means 13 which, in a manner which will be described below, feeds the staple roll 8 through an opening 14 in the staple cassette 7.
Figure 2 shows the staple cartridge 7 in detail. A means 15 is arranged for the cassette, which means has a first and a second electrical coupling means 16 and 17, respectively.
Figure 1 also shows a circuit arrangement 19 which comprises a first line part 20 which extends between a positive pole 21 and the coupling means 16 on the cassette 7. The circuit then runs through the means 15 and through the second coupling means 17 to a second line 22 which is connected to the motor 10. From the motor 10 runs a third line part 23 which is connected to a negative pole 24. On the first line part 20 a switch 25 is arranged and on the second line part a display means 26 is arranged.
The stapler 1 operates so that when the switch 25 closes the circuit 19 in a known manner, the current I flows through the line 20 to the coupling means 16 and further through the means 15, after which it passes over the second coupling means 17 through the line 22 to the motor 10 and then through the motor to the line 23 and on to the negative pole 24.
As the current 1 flows through the motor, the motor 10 drives over the link 11 the drive arm 12 whereby the base part 2 and the stapling unit 3 are brought towards each other into contact with the workpiece 6. Thereafter the drive arm 12 drives the driver 9 further towards the base part 2 whereby a clamp is driven in the workpiece 6 and in a known manner a stapling 10 15 20 25 534 355 7 of this is effected. During this sequence, the feeding means 13 cooperates with the staple roller 8 and the advancement of staples to a position in which the driver 9 operates takes place. Thereafter, the motor continues to drive the base member and the stapler in an opposite direction from each other to the position shown in Figure 1, and the stapler has thereby made a staple and is placed in position to perform new stapling. Figure 3 shows an alternative embodiment of the circuit arrangement 19. This alternative arrangement includes a microprocessor 27. To the microprocessor is connected from the positive pole 21 a line 28. From the microprocessor is connected a line 29 which goes to the means 15 arranged on the cassette and from the means 15 a line 30 goes back to the microprocessor 27. From the microprocessor a line 31 goes to the motor 10 and from the motor 10 goes to the microprocessor an additional line 32. Finally, a line 33 goes from the microprocessor to the negative pole 24. from the positive pole 21 the current flows through the line 28 to the microprocessor 27. From the microprocessor the current flows further through the line 29 to the means 15 arranged on the cassette. to the microprocessor 27, the microprocessor forwards a current through the line 31 ti In the motor 10 for operating the motor and through the line 32, the current then continues the microprocessor 27 and from there over the line 33 to the negative pole 24.
The means 15 may consist of a known electrical element such as a memory circuit which in a known manner may contain information about which staple size is accommodated in the cassette, how many staples are left in the cassette at any given time or if the cassette is empty. This information can be processed in a known manner in the microprocessor and the microprocessor can send a current to the motor which is adapted in relation to the contents of the cassette.
By placing the means 15 through which the current 1 flows on the cassette, it is ensured that the stapler cannot be started if no staple cassette is mounted in the stapler. In addition, by placing the member 15 on the cassette, it is ensured that the sensing of the contents of the cassette which is conveyed to the member 15 becomes very secure and precise and is not subject to external disturbances.
The display 26 placed on the line 22 is a display of known type which can digitally display and convey to the users of the stapler the information about the contents of the cassette and thereby also give the user information about how the stapler can be used.
As can be seen from the above description, the stapler 1 has a circuit arrangement 19 which partially runs through the staple cassette and closes when the staple cassette is mounted to the stapler, which means that if no cassette is in the stapler, no stapling occurs.
The invention according to the present invention is not limited by the above description but is limited only by the appended claims.
