“ROTARY STOPPER” This invention refers to a rotary stopper, applied in the activation of grid cleaningdevices of grid carriages used in pelletizing furnace.
Description of the state of art ln an ore pelletizing process, the pellets are deposited in grid carriages, arrangedalong each other, guided by rails. The grid carriages are responsible for guiding the pelletsalong the entire furnace, where they are dried, burned and cooled down, for subsequenttransport, stocking and shipping.
The grid carriage has this name for comprising a support structure on which severalgrid bars are placed forming a grid for receiving the pellets. The gaps of this grid areresponsible for the permeability of external gases which help in the pelletizing process. Forthis reason, the grid gaps should be kept clean, without scaling of fines or parts of materialreleased from the pellets.
For cleaning the grid gaps, usually colliding grid cleaners are used for removingresidue.
An example of this is described in document CN 2739554, in which an automaticgrid-cleaning device of sintering machine comprises a hammer-like device and a liftingdevice which periodically lifts and lowers the hammer-like device striking the grid toremove residues from its gaps. ln addition, document US 2,174,338 describes a grid for sintering machine, whichcomprises elements arranged in its gaps which, when the grid is impacted, move in thegaps dragging embedded particles.
More specifically, known from the state of art, cleaners formed by bars with at leastone point of articulation allowing it to swing so that an end of this bar is in constant contactwith a stopper and the opposite end of the stopper comprises a support which collides withthe grids, removing the material which might be adhered to the gaps. 2 For the bar to move up and down, star-like devices axially clamped to a shaftconcurrent to the bar are used, for the rods composing the stars periodically contact thestopper. However, the friction between the star rod surface and the bar stopper surfacegenerates significant wear to these parts. Over time, the lifting stroke of the bar is hinderedby the wear implying weaker shocks from the support to the grid, resulting in the removalof less scaling from the grid gaps. Consequently, the permeability decreases, casing anincrease in temperature of the furnace, higher fine generation, pe|et wear, increase inpower consumption, premature wear of the grid carriages, among other disadvantages.
Purposes of the invention The purpose of this invention is to provide a rotary stopper to the bar end of thecleaner in contact with the activation star rods, so as to perform the lifting of this end withless friction between the star and the stopper and, therefore, with less wear between theparts.
Brief description of the invention The object of this invention is a rotary stopper for grid cleaners. Each grid cleaner isformed by a beam fastened to an articulated point and is equipped with a support alongthe first beam end. The rotary stopper comprises a bearing associated with the secondbeam end and receives a roller cooperating with elements of an activator.
Brief description of the drawingsThis invention is described according to figures and photos showing: Figure 1 - schematic view of the grid cleaner equipped with rotary stopper, object ofthis invention, activated by the star-like device; 3 Figure 2 -front view of the rotary stopper bearing; Figure 3 - side view of the rotary stopper roller; Figure 4 - schematic perspective view of the rotary stopper;Photo 1 - illustrates grid carriages and the grid in details;Photo 2 - illustrates a plurality of grid cleaners; Photo 3 - illustrates the front view of the rotary stopper associated with the other endof the grid cleaner beam; Photo 4 - illustrates the activator element in contact with the rotary stopper, object ofthis invention, to lift the grid carriage cleaner beam; and Photo 5 - illustrates the other view of the activator element in contact with the rotarystopper to lift the grid carriage cleaner beam.
Detailed description of the invention According to Figures 1 to 4 and Photos 1 to 5, this invention consists of a rotarystopper (Figure 2) for grid cleaners (Photo 2) of grid carriages (Photo 1).
Grid carriages are responsible for carrying pellets along the entire furnace. They areformed by a support structure on which a plurality of bars is arranged forming a grid forreceiving the pellets. The gaps of this grid are responsible for the permeability of externalgases which help in the pelletizing process and, for this reason, should be kept clean, without scaling of fines or parts of material releasing from the pellets.
The grid cleaner (Photo 2) is formed by a beam (point 21) fastened to an articulatedpoint (point 22) in order to have a swing motion similar to a seesaw. A support (point 30) isarranged along the first end (point 23) of the beam (point 21) and rotary stopper (point 40),fastened to the second end (point 24) of this beam. This end (point 24) is in contact with ashaft of the activators (point 50). Thus, the star-like activator is rotated making its elements(point 51) lift the second end of the beam leaving the support (point 30) near the ground. 4 Then, following the activator profile, the second end (point 24) is released and goestoward the lower portion of the grid (point 40), unleashing a blow for the residue in thegaps to be removed. These gaps are kept cleaner, improving the pellet burning quality. ln addition, the number of interventions for recovery of grid cleaners is reduced dueto lower wear, and the grid bar consumption is also reduced.
The more effective cleaning of the grid gaps also results in an increase in life cycle ofthe refractory of the furnace and less heat exposure time for the operator.
According to Figure 2, the rotary stopper comprises a bearing (points 11 and 11')fastened to the second end (point 24) of the beam (point 21) which receives a roller (point12) cooperating with the activator elements (point 50). The roller (point 12) comprises amain body (point 15) associated with an shaft (point 13), whose ends receive rollingbearings (points 14, 14'). The bearing is formed by side structures (points 11, 11')containing a larger portion (points 111, 111') fastened to a lower portion (points 112, 112')so as to fit the rolling bearings (points 14, 14') of the shaft ends (point 13), but allowing forroller (point 12) rotation and shaft (point 13) under the rolling bearings.
The bearing is fastened to the second end (point 24) of the beam (point 21),preferably by means of welding, and other kinds of fastening can be used provided thatthey are appropriate for maintaining the bearing in place and for withstanding the stresseswhen the activator lifts the second beam end.
