BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION TECHNICAL FIELD cradle, this recess being coated in the region of a spirit of the body of the cylinder liner designed to be connected to a cylinder head and closer to this spirit of a piston ring of a reciprocating piston receptive in the combustion chamber is intended to reach, and a metal ring which is received in the recess and has a surface water against the combustion chamber designed to protrude into the combustion chamber relative to the said inner cradle of the cylinder liner body, and an internal combustion engine according to the preamble of the attached independent internal combustion engine patent claims.
In this case, the invention is not a load for a cylinder liner for any specific type of internal combustion engine or fuel, and as some non-exhaustive examples of the fuel, diesel and ethanol may be mentioned. The invention also relates to cylinder liners for internal combustion engines intended for all types of use, such as in industrial applications, in crushing machines and in all types of motor vehicles, although the invention is particularly applicable to wheeled motor vehicles, especially commercial vehicles, such as trucks and buses, and for that reason below will sometimes be discussed in that use for the purpose of illustrating the invention but thus by no means limiting.
BACKGROUND ART A cylinder liner of an initially defined type has a so-called metal ring, which in the art is called a saver ring, so that coke created on the upper part of the piston, above the top piston ring, during combustion in the combustion chamber is scraped off from the piston to protect it. the inner cradle of the body of the cylinder liner.
During operation of the internal combustion engine, the body of the cylinder liner receives it at a high temperature and it is normally cooled with coolant between it and the engine blocks surrounding the cylinders of an internal combustion engine. However, this coolant must not reach up to the spirit of the cylinder liner at the cylinder head, so that where the cylinder liner in that area is in contact with the engine block and normally a seal in the form of a circumferential O-ring of elastic material is arranged between the cylinder liner and the engine block in the the area. This meant that the cylinder liner in this area could not be cooled ails or only to a small extent by the cooling liquid between the cylinder liner and the engine block.
US 2013/0055993 A1 discloses a cylinder liner which in itself lacks said metallic ring and of that preamble is not of the type defined initially, but which has an insulating material, for example a ceramic material, externally in said 3 areas intended to be arranged closest to the cylinder head of a cylinder. This insulating layer will involve a reduced heat transfer from the body of the cylinder liner to a surrounding engine block in this area, but it will not result in a slightly lower temperature of the cylinder liner in this area, and the heat insulating material is stated to be arranged to drive engine efficiency. .
There is, of course, a constant effort to improve the properties of a cylinder liner of the type initially defined in order to improve the properties of an internal combustion engine provided therewith.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The object of the present invention is to provide a cylinder liner of initially defined kind which is at least somewhat slightly improved relative to previous (arida sadana liner liners).
This object is achieved according to the invention by providing such a cylindrical liner with the sarcraft features enumerated in the jug-drawing part of claim 1.
By gluing the metal ring to the body of the cylinder liner with an adhesive with such a layer of thermal conductivity, a thermal barrier is created between the metal ring and the body of the cylinder liner. This meant that the body of the cylinder liner in this area closest to the said spirit next to a cylinder head during operation, i.e. combustion in the combustion chamber, will have a lower temperature than in the case if the metal ring, as in prior art, would be loose in the recess against the cylinder liner. body. This is especially important because the body of the cylinder liner is more responsive to cooling in this area farther from said spirit, and the thermal barrier will result in a low temperature where normally a named 0 ring is provided. In the case of cylinders with cylinder liners of an initially defined type, such O-rings must be of a very expensive type of rubber in terms of the high temperatures, up to about 150 ° C, to which the O-ring is exposed. However, such 0-rings must be replaced after a certain operating time of the internal combustion engine. However, by the inventive arrangement of the adhesive and thus the thermal barrier between the metal ring and the body of the cylinder liner, such a temperature reduction at the place of arrangement of a named 0-ring can be achieved that the 0-ring does not need to be replaced, so as to cost itself The 0-ring as well as for service stops can be saved.
Another advantage of the arrangement of said glue is that thereby the dead volume between the metal ring and the body of the cylinder liner will be replaced by the line and thereby not contribute to the production of emissions of pollutants during combustion in the combustion chamber. Thus, the total dead volume in this region of the combustion chamber is reduced and thereby the level of said emissions can be reduced.
According to an embodiment of the invention, said adhesive has a thermal conductivity which is less than 10%, less than 5% or less than 2% of the thermal conductivity of the material of the cylinder lining body. By using an adhesive with such a low thermal conductivity, a so-called thermal barrier is obtained with a "high height" between the metal ring and the body of the cylinder liner and the above-mentioned advantages of an occurrence of such a barrier. According to another embodiment of the invention, said lirn has a thermal conductivity which is less than 5 W / mK at 20 ° C or less than 2 W / mK at 20 ° C.
According to another embodiment of the invention, said urn is a ceramic adhesive. A ceramic adhesive has a very low thermal conductivity in relation to the metallic cylinder liner body and will therefore form a desired barrier between the metal ring and the body of the cylinder liner.
According to another embodiment of the invention, the metal ring is glued to the body of the cylinder liner via an adhesive layer with a thickness of 0.05-1 mm. Such a thickness of the adhesive layer is sufficient to provide a desired thermal barrier.
According to another embodiment of the invention, as usual, the body of the cylinder liner is made of cast iron.
According to another embodiment of the invention, the body of the cylinder liner has a circumferential outer fringe-shaped recess in the region of said spirit designed to receive an O-ring of elastic material with an unloaded state larger cross-sectional diameters than the depth of the recessed recess. The presence of the thermal barrier formed by the adhesive layer is particularly advantageous in arranging a named O-ring in the area in question, as it leads to the advantages discussed above with a lowering of the temperature to which the O-ring is exposed. The invention also provides an internal combustion engine which is provided with the features of the jugging part of the appended independent internal combustion engine patent claims. The advantages of such an internal combustion engine and embodiments thereof defined in dependent claims appear from the discussion above regarding the cylinder liner according to the invention.
The invention also relates to a motor vehicle according to claims 12 and 13.
Other advantageous features and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following description.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS An exemplary embodiment of the invention is described below with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which: Fig. 1 is a partially cut-away view of a part closest to the cylinder head of a cylinder of an internal combustion engine provided with a cylinder liner according to an embodiment of the invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF AN EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION Fig. 1 shows in section a part of a cylinder 1 of an internal combustion engine 2, '. of a motor vehicle M, which cylinder is provided with a cylinder liner 3 according to an embodiment of the invention. More specifically, the part of the cylinder located 7 near its cylinder head 4 defining a spirit 5 of a combustion chamber 6 defined by an inner cradle 7 of a body 8 of the cylinder liner is shown.
In the combustion chamber, a piston 9 is received to move back and forth, and the piston 9 abuts and is guided by said inner cradle 7 via piston rings 10-12.
The body 8 of the cylinder liner has a circumferential inner recess 13 in the inner cradle 7 in the region of a spirit 14 of the cylinder liner designed to be connected to the cylinder head 4 and closer to this spirit to any piston ring, more specifically the uppermost piston ring 12, intended for to na. A metal ring 15, a so-called saver ring, is received in the recess 13 and has a surface 16 designed towards the combustion chamber 16 to protrude into the combustion chamber relative to the inner cradle 7 so as to thereby scrape away coke formed from the piston portion 17 during combustion. this part of the piston passes the metal ring 15.
The cylinder liner 3 is surrounded by an engine block 18, and between the cylinder liner and the engine block there is a space 19, which in the direction of said spirit 14 of the cylinder liner extends to the area of said spirit and is designed for circulating coolant therein for cooling the cylinder liner and thereby also the engine block.
The body 8 of the cylinder liner has a circumferential external sparing recess 20 arranged in said area and in which an O-ring 21 of elastic material, such as rubber, especially fluororubber, is received to abut against the cylinder block under 8 compression and thereby absorb and prevent cooling water. in the space 19 to approach the spirit 14 up to the 0-ring 21.
What is special about the present invention is that the metal ring 15 is glued to the cylinder liner with a urn having a low thermal conductivity, such as in the order of less than 5% of the thermal conductivity of the cylinder liner material, which is cast iron. This urn forms an adhesive layer 22 indicated in the figure which, for example, has a thickness of a few tenths of a millimeter, which can be compared with the thickness of the metallic ring, which can be, for example, in the order of 3-6 mm. The adhesive layer is then advantageously formed by a ceramic urn, such as e.g. Keranova AB, under the name K-1400, sells the two-component adhesive based on metasilicate and fine-grained alumina.
The adhesive layer 22 fills up a part of and thereby reduces the dead volume of the cylinder combustion chamber, so that the level of emissions of pollutants resulting from the combustion in the combustion chamber decreases, but above all the adhesive layer forms a thermal barrier between the metallic ring 15 and the cylinder liner 8, so that the latter will have a lower temperature at the place of reception of the O-ring 21 in the absence of the adhesive layer. This may mean that the O-ring 21, which may be of a relatively expensive material, such as fluorine rubber, to speak of the high temperatures, could be used without replacement for the entire life of the internal combustion engine and no longer need to be replaced after a certain operating time by the internal combustion engine. in the case that the internal combustion engine is built into a motor vehicle after a certain cross section when servicing the motor vehicle. The invention is of course not limited in any way to the embodiment described above, but a number of possibilities for modifications thereof should be obvious to a person skilled in the art without this being deviating from the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
