    A bumper beam consists of a hat profile (11) with a lid (12). The cover is facing outwards from the vehicle and has vertical embossments (21) at the mounting portions (18,19) of the bumper beam and horizontal embossments in between. The sides of the hat beam (14,15) have embossments directed in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle.

    2 the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and stiffens the sides. The lid 12 has vertical embossments 21 at the fastening portions. In the area between the fastening portions, the lid has horizontal embossments 22. As shown, the lid can have a hole 23 for a pull loop and it does not have to cover the hat profile on the outside of the fastening portions. The central end 13 has corresponding holes 24.
    In the event of a collision load, the vertical embossments 21 of the lid counteract the tendency for the lid to bend inwards at the fastening portions and the sides 14,15 to be folded towards each other. This delays the plastic deformation of the fastening portions. The attachment portions therefore take a larger load before they begin to deform plastically.
    The side embossments 20 stiffen the sides so that they take a higher load before they start to dent.
    The bumper beam is arcuate seen from above and the horizontal embossments counteract local buckling when the bumper beam is straightened in the event of a collision. The load level increases steeply and the cross section is retained longer, which means that the impact load is transferred to the fastening portions until they begin to deform and plastically absorb the impact energy.

    Bumper beam comprising a hat profile (11) with a central flange (13) and sides 14,15) terminated with side flanges (16,17), the central flange facing inwards of the vehicle and the side flanges facing outwards from the vehicle and the hat profile having two attachment portions (18 , 19) against the vehicle and a cover (12) which gives the closed profile, characterized in that the cover (12) has vertical embossments (21) at the fastening portions (18, 19) ..

    Bumper beam according to Claim 1, characterized in that the cover (12) has horizontal embossments (22) which extend between the fastening portions (18, 19).

    Bumper beam according to Claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the sides (14, 15) of the hat profile have horizontal embossments (22) in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle.
