    lO A SNOW SHOVEL Technical field The present invention relates to a snow shovel for comfortable shoveling, pushing and scraping snow.
    Prior Art There are a large number of snow moving devices on the market,and there are also devices designed to be used for bothshoveling and scraping. In e.g. US 5,79l,707, a deviceessentially for removing snow from roofs is described andclaimed. This device can assume the configuration of a roofsnow scraper, pusher and plow. It comprises a handle connectedto a planar rectangular blade via a plurality of support arms.The blade can be fixed in position for use as a shovel, butcan also be pivotable so it can slide on the snow or groundwhen moved in one direction, and fulfill its scraping orpushing function when moved in the opposite direction, whichis important e.g. when removing snow from roofs. In order tobe used as a shovel, the blade is fixed to the support armswith bolts, and is then fixedly arranged in relation to the handle.
    Short description of the Invention The main object of the present invention is to provide aflexible, comfortable show shovel having a simple and robust structure.
    This and other objects are achieved with the snow showvelaccording to the present invention with the characteristicsdefined in claim l. Further developments and preferred embodiments are presented in the sub claims. lO According to the invention, the snow shovel is self adjustingand changes its function from being a shovel into a raker byreversing the movement from the user towards the user makingthe blade to tilt, catch the ground and rise itself into araker position and vice versa. In order to push the snow, thehandle and device is simply twisted l80° around thelongitudinal axis of the handle, and the blade will tilt and rise to a more upright position when pushed.
    There are no loose parts on the snow shovel according to theinvention, its structure is strong and stable with the handleacting at a central part of the blade. The sides of the blade,and the front and back thereof, can be designed and adapted toan intended use, e.g. with a sharp front edge and a blunt backedge, and/or high lateral and back sides where large amounts of snow is to be moved, etc.
    Short description of the drawing Fig. l schematically shows a flexible snow shovel according to the invention.
    Detailed description of the Invention A preferred embodiment of the snow shovel according to the invention is shown schematically in Fig. l.
    The shovel comprises a handle l and a blade 2 with the handlepivotably attached to the blade. The configuration is notcritical to the invention, and it can be adapted to anintended main use, i.e. be more adapted to shoveling, butstill working as a scraper, or be more adapted to scraping, but still working as a shovel.
    In the embodiment shown in the Figure, the blade is configured with lateral sides 3, 4 standing upright from a main blade lO surface, and with protruding edge areas 5, 6 in a forward and backward direction of the blade, respectively.
    A bracket 7 is fastened on the blade, e.g. through welding,riveting, with screws or any other suitable means. In theembodiment shown in the drawing, the bracket is arrangedsubstantially in the middle of the blade, which is a goodcompromise when the shovel is intended for several different purposes.
    The bracket 7 has a cross section formed as a U turned upsidedown, with brims 8, 9 from the free ends being fastened to theblade, two side walls lO, ll standing vertically up from theblade 2, and a top wall l2 connecting the side walls. In thetop wall there is an oblong opening l3. A bolt or shaft l4 isarranged in the side walls of the bracket in parallel with theblade and perpendicular to the lateral sides of the blade. Asocket l5 is mounted on the shaft l4, and protrudes out of theoblong opening in the top wall l2 of the bracket 7. The socketl5 is adapted to hold the end of a handle. The respective endsof the oblong opening act as end stops for the swivelingmotion of the socket. In one end position the socket/handlewill be arranged at an angle of e.g. 30° in relation to theblade, and at the other end position the socket/handle will besubstantially perpendicular in relation to the handle. Theswiveling motion is illustrated with an arrow A extended fromthe handle towards a dashed line B, illustrating the respective end positions of the handle.
    In an alternative embodiment of the invention, the bracketcomprises two L-shaped elements replacing the U-shaped bracketshown in the drawing. The handle is swiveled on a boltfastened in said elements, and further two bolts are arranged in the elements, forming a forward end a backward stop, lO respectively, for the handle movement, corresponding to therespective ends of the oblong opening in the upper wall of the bracket according to the previous embodiment.
    The snow shovel according to the invention, in the embodiment illustrated in the accompanying drawing, works as follows: When pushed in a forward direction, the handle will be in anangle of about 30° in relation to the blade, and it is used asa shovel. When the handled is drawn backwards, i.e. towards auser, the back edge will ”catch” and the blade will have a scraping function.
    When turned upside down, i.e. twisted l80° in relation to thelongitudinal axis of the handle, when the blade is pushedforward, the blade will stand upright, the handle will besubstantially perpendicular to the blade, and the blade isused as a snow pusher/scraper. When drawn backwards towards auser, the blade will tilt and the front edge will slide on the ground.
