    DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Figs. 1-3 illustrate a knife sheath 1 according to an embodiment of the present invention. This knife sheath 1 comprises a front piece 2 and a back piece 3. The front piece 2 and the back piece 3 are connected to each other to form a protective cover 4 for a knife blade. The protective cover 4 has an inner space 5 for receiving a knife blade and an upper opening 6, via which the knife blade 10 can be inserted into this space. A bracket 7 for attaching the knife sheath 1 to a belt or other belt, or to a trouser button, is arranged on the back of the knife sheath. The bracket 7 projects from the upper end of the back piece 3 and has a tongue 8 which extends downwards along the upper part of the back piece 3, substantially parallel thereto, to form a gap 9 between the bracket 7 and the back piece 3. This column 9 is intended for receiving a belt or other belt. A keyhole-shaped hole 10 designed for engagement with a trouser button is arranged in said tongue 8. The knife sheath 1 can thus be hung on a belt or other belt via said slot 9 or on a trouser button via said hole 10.
    The knife sheath 1 is further provided with a coupling button 11 attached to the front piece 2 and projecting therefrom, which is designed for engagement with a hole in a bracket on the back of another knife sheath to thereby allow detachable connection of the knife sheaths. The clutch button 11 thus protrudes on the front of the knife sheath. In the illustrated embodiment, the coupling button 11 is of the denim button type and comprises a shaft 12 projecting from the front piece 2 of the knife sheath and a button head 13 attached to the outer end of the shaft. This button head 13 is wider than the shaft 12 so that the underside of the button head forms one from the shaft 12 radially projecting stop 14. A coupling button 11 of this design is suitable for engaging a keyhole-shaped hole of a bracket on another knife sheath of the conventional type or of the type according to the invention.
    In the illustrated embodiment, the coupling button 11 is attached to the front piece 2 of the knife sheath by riveting.
    The knife sheath 1 is suitably made of plastic material.
    Figs. 4-6 illustrate a knife sheath 20 of the conventional type which is attached to a knife sheath 1 according to the invention. The coupling button 11 of the latter knife sheath 1 is received in a keyhole-shaped hole 22 which is arranged in the bracket 21 of the first-mentioned knife sheath 20. The front knife sheath 20 is thus releasably attached to and suspended from the coupling button 11 of the rear knife sheath 1. Fig. 6 shows the knife sheaths 1, 20 with a knife 30 received in the respective knife sheath. The interconnected knife sheaths 1, 20 are located at mutually different levels so that the handles 31 of both knives become easily accessible to the person carrying the two interconnected knife sheaths.
    The invention is of course not in any way limited to the embodiments described above, but a number of possibilities for modifications thereof should be obvious to a person skilled in the art, without this for that reason deviating from the basic idea of the invention as defined in the appended claims. .
