Summary It is an obiect ot the tnvention to create a shredding device tor ptcking apart a, to a greatextent, compressed block ot loose-till cellulose therma| insulation material that address somear all ot the above mentioned disadvantages. The shredding device ts to be used on anapparatus tor insulatton vvith loose-till insu|ation. Further, it ts an obtect ot the ínvention togenerate a method tor picking apart loose-till cellulose therma| insulation material compressed by a compression torce into a block.
These objects are achieved by a shredding device according to claim l and a method according to c|aim t2.
The shredding device ot c|aim T is used tor picking apart compressed blocks ot loosestillcellulose therma| tnsulation materia| and it comprises a chute vvith a chute openingcontigured to receive the cornpressed insulation block. Further, it comprises a shredderrotatable around a substantially horizontal axis, mounted at an out|et ot the chute. Thedevice is characterized in that the rotatable shredder is a cylinder With protruding gratingpins arranged on its mantel surtace, Where the pins are adapted to grate, pick apart andtlutt the insulation trom the cornpressed block torrnat into a tlutt material vvith a required even density ot high quality containing no lump.
Only one single rotatable shredder cylinder is used to pick apart the compressed insu|ation.
When protruding grating pins arranged on a cylinder is used to pick apart the compressedinsulation material, a materia| useable to blow into building structures is created in only onestep. The protruding pins tears the insulations into a tlutted material vvith an even and lovv density vvithout requiring a great amount ot povver to rotate the cylinder.
The protruding grating pins are preterably arranged in a substantially continuous pattern spread over the whole cylinder rnantel surtace. Placing the pins in a continuous pattern 4 contribute to on evenly groted insulotion moteriol ond o smooth rototion of the shredding cylinder. lf the groting pins hove o length of between 8 ond l2 mm ond/or ore distributed with ominimum distonce on 5 mm from eoch other- preferoblv o horizontol distonce voryingbetween 5 ond 20 mm ond o minimum verticol distonce of opproximotely 20 mm - the insulotion motertol is eosily ond completely picked oport.
The chute hos preferobly o substontiolly rectongulor cross section with its height different from its width. The cross section of the chute is odopted to the dimensions of the block. ln one embodiment the chute opening hos o closure port which prevents dust from exitingthe opening. When the chute opening is closed, the environment oround the loose fillinsulotion opporotus ts improved by minimizing the dust orising when the compressed insulotion is picked oport. ln o further embodiment, o pivotoble woll section is used os closure port. The pivotoblewo| is odopted to the chute so thot o minimum of oir flow is possing between the pivotoblewoll edges ond the chute. Preferoblv, the woll is pivotoble oround o top edge ond is in on open position only when on insulotion block is possing the closure port.
In one embodiment there is o seoling ploced in the chute opening. The seoling is odoptedto enclose the block ond to prevent dust from exiting the opening. The seoling moy beploced in the chute opentng, between o closure port ond the rototoble shredder cylinder.
Preferoblv the seoling is o brush strip or some other seoling strips providing onoppropriote seoling effect with o low friction ogoinst the block. The seoling con olso be used os the only dust preventing orrongement. ln onother embodiment the shredder device is o single unit odopted to be mounted on o loose fill insulotion opporotus. lt is on odvontoge if existing loose fill insulotion opporotuses con be used when insuloTing buildings.
