According to a first aspect of the present invention, there is provideddevice for defrosting a vehicle, which device comprises adischarge surface portion for gaseous medium. The source of gaseous medium may, for example, consist of a containerwhich is connected to the ambient air. The heating element canfor example, be in direct or indirect connection with the gaseous sourcemedium. The air inside the container can then be heated by means of heatingthe element to the desired temperature or to such a temperature as to be effectivedefrosting and / or removal of frost, ice, snow, etc. on the surface to bedefrosting can take place by discharging the so heated gaseous medium(the air) through the openings.

According to a second aspect of the present invention, there is provideddevice for defrosting a vehicle, which device comprises adischarge surface portion for gaseous medium. The discharge surface portion comprises aa plurality of openings in communication with a source of gasshaped medium, which source is arranged adjacent to the vehicle. Outputthe openings of the surface portion are arranged for discharging the gaseous mediumfrom the device.
By means of such a device a device for defrosting vehicles canprovided which are capable of utilizing gaseous medium presentavailable or generated in the vehicle to defrost frost, ice, snow, etcwhich has accumulated on a surface of the vehicle to be defrosted, bydischarging the gaseous medium from the device onto the surface to bedefrosted. In other words, such a device generally allows heatinggenerated or stored in the vehicle in gaseous form, for example asair, can be used for defrosting purposes by keeping the gaseous flow influid connection with the openings through which the gaseous flow canis discharged so that it comes into contact with the surface to be defrosted. Onesuch a device can alternatively or optionally be used for efficient and fastremoval of mist on parts of the vehicle. Such a device allows ingenerally a high degree of flexibility and adaptability in terms of performanceof the device, when the performance of such a device at a ratiocan be easily adapted by choosing the design, size of the openingsand number, the nature of the gaseous medium, etc.
The surface or part of the vehicle to be defrosted can generallybe located on any part or lot of the vehicle. For example, adevice according to an embodiment of the invention is used for defrostingof windscreens, or the removal of fog therefrom, in motor vehicles of the type which:has a passenger compartment, both inside and outside, ie forfrosting both of the side of the windscreen facing into the passenger compartment, towards the driverof the vehicle, and the side of the windscreen facing away from the vehicle, towardsthe environment of the vehicle.

According to an embodiment of the present invention, the devicecomprise at least one rechargeable power source provided fortransmission of electrical power to the heating element.

The device 1 comprises a discharge surface portion 3 whichcomprises a plurality of openings 4 (only a few openings 4 are indicated byreference numerals in Fig. 1). The openings 4 can be arranged on one suchthat they are each in fluid communication with a source 5 forgaseous medium. As schematically indicated in Fig. 1, the source 5 may bearranged inside the vehicle 2. The source 5 can also be arranged outside the vehicle2, for example in close proximity to the vehicle 2. The openings 4 can bearranged for discharging the gaseous medium from the source 5 fromthe device 1. In this way, the gaseous medium can leave the device 1at a predetermined location determined by the discharge surface portion 3current position. The discharge surface portion 3 can thus be arranged on one suchway that the discharge surface portion 3 is movable (and thus alsothe openings 4) in relation to the other components of the device 1. Figure 2 is a schematic view of a device 1 for defrosting onevehicle (not shown in Fig. 2, see Fig. 1) according to an exemplary embodiment ofpresent invention. As shownschematically in Fig. 2, the portion 6 may comprise a palm surface portion 7 on whichthe discharge surface portion 3 is at least partially arranged. The fluid connection betweenthe openings 4 and the source 5 can for instance be made by means of aflexible conduit, or a pipe, 8 connecting the source to the discharge surface portion 3,via which discharge surface portion 3 the source can be in fluid communication with the dischargesurface 3 openings 4.
Figure 3 is a schematic cross-sectional view of a defrosting device 1of a vehicle (not shown in Fig. 3, see Fig. 1) according to an exemplary embodimentof the present invention. As shown schematically in Fig. 2, the device can1 comprise a flexible cavity 9 which is arranged for insertion of the hand ofa user. The fluid connection between the openings 4 and the source5 can for instance be made by means of a flexible line, or a pipe, 8connecting the source to the discharge surface portion 3, via which discharge surface portion 3the source can be in fluid communication with the openings 4.
Figure 4 is a schematic block diagram of a device 1 fordefrosting of a vehicle (not shown in Fig. 4, see Fig. 1) according to an exemplaryembodiment of the present invention. The device 1 comprisescomponents that are similar to or identical and whose functions aresimilar or identical to the components contained inthe device described with reference to Fig. 1. A detaileddescription of such components with reference to Fig. 4 is thereforeomitted. Referring to Fig. 4, the device 1 may comprise onecompressor means 12 which is arranged to be able to transport it in a controllable mannerthe gaseous medium from the source 5 to the openings 4 via the discharge surface portion 3.
Figure 5 is a schematic block diagram of a device 1 fordefrosting of a vehicle (not shown in Fig. 4, see Fig. 1) according to an exemplaryembodiment of the present invention. The device 1 comprisescomponents that are similar or identical and whose functions are similaror identical to the components included in the device that aredescribed with reference to Figs. 1 or 4. A detailed description of suchcomponents with reference to Fig. 5 are therefore omitted.
Referring to Fig. 5, the device 1 may comprise an incineratorengine 14 which may, for example, be arranged to drive the vehicle. The device 1 may comprise a heating element 22which is arranged for heating gaseous medium present in the source5 for gaseous medium.
As shown in Fig. 6, the source 5 may be arranged inside the device 1(for example integrated in the device 1). The source 5 can also be arrangedoutside the device 1. The openings 4 can be arranged for dischargingthe gaseous medium from the source 5 of the device 1. In this way it canthe gaseous medium leave the device 1 at a predetermined location which isdetermined by the current position of the discharge surface portion 3. It will be appreciated that various modifications may be made thereto in the foregoingdescribed exemplary embodiments of the present invention.
