PC built-in PC monitor
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a PC monitor, and more particularly, to a camera built-in PC monitor that enables a video phone and video conferencing system to be realized on a PC without purchasing a separate camera.
Recently, integration between different technologies such as TV, telephone, and computer is happening. Especially, as the PC becomes popular, products combining PC and other devices are coming out. For example, PCTV, a combination of a TV and a computer, provides a TV window on the computer screen. In addition, PCVP (PC Videophone), which is a combination of a video telephone and a computer, connects an ISDN line to a PC and operates a communication program to freely exchange information such as voice, video, and other data. In order to implement video capturing, video telephony or video conferencing on such a PC, a camera as a video input means is essential. Thus, conventionally, a user purchases a camcorder or a camera separately and installs it on a PC.
However, this increases the cost burden to the user, there was a difficult problem in the installation and management of the camera.
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a camera-integrated PC monitor to implement a video call and video conferencing on a PC without having to purchase a camera by separately embedding the camera in the monitor to solve the above problems.
1 is a view showing the appearance of a camera-equipped PC monitor according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention;
2 is a block diagram of a camera built in the monitor of FIG.
* Explanation of symbols for main parts of the drawings
10: monitor 21: lens / CCD
22: sample-holder 23: A / D converter
24: digital camera signal processor 25: D / A converter
26: timing generator 27: vertical driver
In order to achieve the above object, the camera-equipped PC monitor of the present invention includes a monitor in which a camera for inputting video to a PC is included in the PC for implementing a video call or a video conference.
Hereinafter, exemplary embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
FIG. 1 shows an external view of a camera-equipped PC monitor 10 of the present invention, and FIG. 2 is an internal configuration diagram of a camera built in FIG. 1 monitor 10.
Looking at the PC monitor 10 shown in Figure 1, the camera is built in the upper case of the monitor 10. Of course, the camera may be built in another suitable position of the monitor 10. The camera embedded in the monitor 10 includes the same configuration as the camera function block of the general camera as shown in FIG. In general, in a videophone and videoconferencing system using a low-rate network, both video and audio compression obtained by a camera are made of software (S / W).
Looking inside the camera shown in FIG. 2, the timing generator 26 generates a pulse which is a reference for the operation of each component, and the vertical driver 27 is referenced from the timing generator 26. The pulse is input to drive a charge coupled device (CCD) of the lens / CCD 21. The CCD driven by the vertical driver 27 in the lens / CCD 21 has a photodiode structure and induces electric charge with respect to the optical signal of the subject incident through the lens and outputs the electrical signal. The sample and holder (SH) 22 receiving an image signal of a photoelectrically converted subject removes noise included in the input image signal, receives a reference pulse from the timing generator 26, and samples the sample signal. Output to A / D converter 23 is performed. The A / D converter 23 converts the sampled video signal into a digital form, and the digital camera signal processor 24 receiving the digital video signal performs gamma correction and auto white balance on the input digital video signal. It performs various signal processing such as Auto White Balance) and Auto Focusing to output as composite video signal. The D / A converter 25 receiving the composite video signal converts the input composite video signal into an analog form and outputs it to an input of a capture card or a video telephone inside the PC main body.
When the PC monitor 10 has a built-in camera for outputting an analog composite video signal as described above, it can be used directly as a capture card and a board input of a PC main body for video telephony or video conferencing. Since the analog composite video signal is output from the lens / CCD 21 through various components, distortion occurs in the original signal during video compression, and the compression efficiency drops by approximately 30% or more. That is, distortion occurs due to size conversion, modulation error, quantization error, etc., which occur after A / D conversion of the original 510x480 (pixel) video size of the CCD, thereby decompressing the video signal. However, this has the advantage of simple interface with the PC main body.
On the other hand, if the PC monitor 10 has a built-in digital camera instead of analog, it can be used as a board input for video calling or video conferencing by converting analog from the capture card. That is, if the D / A converter 25 is removed in FIG. 2 and the digital camera signal processing unit 24 outputs CIF (Common Intermediate Format) or QCIF (Quarter CIF), which is an input video format of the video telephone, as a cost aspect and compression. In terms of efficiency can be increased. In addition, when looking at the trend of PC in the future, there is a movement to standardize the interface structure with an external device such as a camera in NC (Network Computer) or SIPC (Simple Interactive PC), and the standard is USB (Universal Serial Bus) or IEEE1394. In response to this trend, digital outputs when the camera is mounted on a PC monitor can cope with future PC trends.
As described above, the present invention relates to a camera monitor built-in PC monitor, the user can conveniently use a monitor equipped with a camera function without having to purchase a camcorder or camera separately for video capturing, video telephony and video conferencing on a PC. Allows you to conduct video telephony and video conferencing.
