The present invention relates to the field of cigarettes.
More specifically, the present invention relates to the field of filters for cigarettes, in particular for rolling cigarettes.
Many types of cigarette filters are known for smokers of rolled cigarettes.
Generally these filters are composed of cylindrical blocks of foam or cellulose. Cigarette filters allow you to filter certain substances in tobacco, thereby reducing the impact of tar and nicotine, as well as softening the smoke.
There are also known coarser filters for cigarettes produced, as illustrated in the attached FIG. 1, by winding a strip of cardboard. These filters are generally called "toncar" which corresponds to the reverse in cardboard verlan, or "tips".
There are many types of cardboard filters supplied in the form of a book or roll, printed or not, delivered flat and which the user rolls up when forming a cigarette.
The use of cardboard filter tip 10 allows the user of rolling paper to position a filter at the end of the cigarette in order to prevent the tobacco from coming out of the cigarette and going into the mouth. It also allows you to smoke all of the tobacco in the cigarette without burning yourself.
Figures 2 to 4 show such a filter 10 placed on the end of a cigarette.
The rolled cardboard filters 10 also facilitate the rolling of the cigarette and allow better retention of the cigarette. As illustrated in FIGS. 1 to 8 appended, the known cardboard filter tips 10 are rolled up on themselves, starting by forming by folding one or more M 12 or a similar geometry, in order to create the interior of the filter and obstruct the passage of tobacco, then different turns on the outside 14 of the initial M 12 shapes.
Figures 5 to 8 schematically illustrate the different successive stages for the production of such a filter by folding and then winding a strip of cardboard.
More precisely still, as illustrated in FIG. 9, filter blanks 20 have been proposed in the form of a strip provided with parallel lines 22 of dotted cutouts, on one end of the strip intended to form the geometry in M, to facilitate the realization of this central structure of the filter. The cut lines 22 define the preferred fold lines. They generally extend perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the strip 20.
However, in practice, it can be seen that these dotted precuts 22 do not prevent the carton from unwinding. The strength of the elasticity of the fibers making up the thickness of the cardboard causes the initially tightened roll, as shown in FIG. 10, to open as shown in FIG. 11. Thus, when the smoker wants to roll his cigarette, the filter 10 extends open, the diameter of the roller is no longer optimal and the cigarette often becomes too large.
The inventors have found that the size of the dotted precuts 22 is very difficult to control. It can vary. If these precuts 22 are too large, the precuts tear. The filter does not fulfill its role. If, on the contrary, they are not marked enough, the lines 22 are not entirely visible and folding in M is almost impossible.
The present invention aims to remedy the difficulties encountered according to the state of the art.
This object is achieved according to the present invention, thanks to a cardboard filter for cigarettes formed by winding a strip of cardboard, characterized in that said strip of cardboard comprises several lines of precuts which extend over the width of the strip but only over part of its thickness.
According to another advantageous characteristic of the invention, the cutouts extend over a depth of the cardboard strip between one third and two thirds of its thickness, very preferably of the order of half the thickness.
The present invention also relates to the blanks formed from a cardboard strip having pre-cut lines which extend over the width of the strip but only over part of its thickness for the production of cardboard filters of the aforementioned type.
The invention also relates to cigarettes comprising a filter of the aforementioned type.
The invention also relates to a method for producing a cardboard cigarette filter, characterized in that it consists in folding one end of a cardboard strip provided with pre-cut lines which extend over its width but only over part of its thickness, then to finish winding the strip in the form of at least one outside turn.
Other characteristics, aims and advantages of the present invention will appear on reading the detailed description which follows, and with reference to the appended drawings, given by way of nonlimiting examples and in which:
FIG. 1 represents a schematic perspective view of a cardboard filter known from the state of the art,
FIG. 2 represents a schematic exterior view of a known cigarette fitted with a cardboard filter known from the state of the art,
FIG. 3 represents a view similar to FIG. 2 in partial section of the cigarette (in FIG. 3 the filter 10 is not shown in section),
FIG. 4 represents a view similar to FIGS. 2 and 3, totally in longitudinal section, of a cigarette known from the state of the art,
FIGS. 5, 6 and 7 represent three successive stages of initial folding of a cardboard strip for the production of a cardboard filter known from the state of the art,
FIG. 8 represents a view of a cardboard filter obtained in accordance with the state of the art,
FIG. 9 represents a view of a strip of cardboard forming a blank for a filter known from the state of the art,
FIGS. 10 and 11 show in a comparative manner the state of winding obtained at the end of a winding phase then the state of the roller forming the filter once released,
FIG. 12 schematically represents the step of producing pre-cuts in accordance with the invention,
FIGS. 13 and 14 show views of two opposite faces of a strip of cardboard forming a filter blank according to the invention,
FIG. 15 represents an enlarged view of one end of the strip illustrated in FIG. 12,
FIGS. 16 and 17 show, similarly to FIGS. 13 and 14, the views of the two opposite faces of a strip of cardboard intended to form a filter blank according to the invention for the production of a cone filter,
FIG. 18 represents an enlarged view of FIG. 16, and
- Figures 19 and 20 show views respectively in axial view and in perspective of a cardboard filter according to the present invention.
As indicated above, to overcome the difficulties encountered according to the state of the art according to the invention, the cardboard strips 100 include, as illustrated in FIGS. 13 and following, precut lines 110 which extend over the width of the strip 100 but only over part of its thickness.
We diagrammed in Figure 12 the step of making these cuts using a tool 200. As seen in Figure 12, the tool 200 does not puncture the strip 100 over its entire thickness , but only on part of it.
In the context of the invention, the tool 200 perforates the material of the strip 100 over a thickness of the latter of between one third and two thirds of its thickness, very preferably of the order of half the thickness as illustrated in figure 12.
More precisely still preferably the cutting of the cardboard with the tool 200 is carried out using a knife, taking care to leave a distance between the edge of the knife and the underlying anvil between
0.2 and 0.3 mm so that the thickness of uncut cardboard is in this range from 0.2 to 0.3 mm.
The inventors have found that a cardboard filter for cigarettes produced using cardboard strips comprising cutting lines 110 which extend only over part of the thickness of the cardboard, allow very easy rolling and maintenance. in place more efficient than the filters obtained according to the state of the art with lines 22 crossing in dotted lines the entire thickness of the cardboard.
The fibers making up the cardboard are cut according to the invention over part of the thickness by the tool 200. However according to the invention, the cutting blade 200 enters the thickness of the cardboard to just cut the fibers of the part upper as illustrated in Figure 12 leaving intact the fibers of the lower part.
The method proposed in the context of the invention allows a clean and clean cut which makes folding particularly easy. The fold is done manually opposite the cut, preferably, and is extremely easy.
The precuts 110 can be positioned from the outer edge laterally and / or longitudinally.
The precut lines 110 can thus be transverse or longitudinal with respect to the longitudinal direction of the cardboard strip.
They are preferably parallel when it is desired to produce a filter of cylindrical geometry of revolution, as illustrated in FIGS. 13 to 15.
However, as illustrated in FIGS. 16 to 18, it is possible to provide non-parallel cutting lines 110 for the production of filters of conical geometry.
The cutting lines 110 can be made on the same side of the blank forming the cardboard strip 100. However, preferably, as illustrated in FIGS. 13 to 15 and 16 to 18, there are provided cutting lines on the front side and back side, alternately, according to the desired final result, to facilitate folding.
In Figures 13 to 15 and 16 to 18 respectively, there is shown a preferred example, according to which there are produced three lines of cutouts 110 alternated between the front and back of the cardboard blank.
As indicated above, the inventors have demonstrated that the use of precut lines 110 extending over only part of the thickness of the cardboard blank makes it possible to form one or more M at the origin of the folding and to complete the complete rolling in the form of external turns which hold very well in place.
Although the invention preferably applies to filters made from cellulose, the term cardboard used in the context of the present description and aimed at the invention must be understood in a broad and non-limiting sense. It encompasses any type of material, of any thickness and texture suitable for the implementation of the invention.
Of course the present invention is not limited to the particular embodiments which have just been described, but extends to any variant in accordance with its spirit.
