LENGTH ADJUSTMENT FOR MOTOR VEHICLE SEAT ELEMENT
Field
The present description generally relates to the seats for motor vehicles and, more particularly, the realization of a seat element nose adjustable in length such as a seat nose. The present description applies more specifically to the realization of a length adjustment mechanism of the seat using such a seat nose.
State of the prior art
We already know movable seating noses that allow to lengthen the length of the seat in an adjustable manner. Some seat noses are completely separate from the seat and their frame is covered with a trim (usually foam plus cap) separate from the seat pad. Others share the same trim as the seat. This description applies to this latter category. The disadvantage of existing seat nosings of this type is that the thickness of the lining (foam), which must be lower in the nose of the seat, does not preserve the same feeling of comfort (thickness of foam ) when the seat nose is out.
Another disadvantage is that the thickness of the foam is degressive, which causes a large radius of curvature on the front face resulting in a significant loss of support under the thighs of the occupant. summary
One embodiment provides a seat member adjustable in length that overcomes all or part of the disadvantages of the usual seat elements.
One embodiment provides a seat element nose that preserves a similar comfort sensation regardless of its position.
Thus, an embodiment provides a seat element nose for a motor vehicle, comprising foam ribs protruding from its upper face.
According to one embodiment, the ribs are parallel to each other and to a translation direction of the nose relative to the rest of the seat member.
According to one embodiment, the ribs are all identical.
According to one embodiment, the section of the ribs is approximately square.
According to one embodiment, the distance between two adjacent ribs is approximately equal to the width of the ribs.
One embodiment provides a seating nose.

These and other features and advantages will be set forth in detail in the following description of particular embodiments given in a nonlimiting manner in relation to the appended figures among which: FIG. 1 is a very schematic perspective view of an example of a seat element of the type to which the described embodiments apply; Figures 2A and 2B are sectional views illustrating the state of the art and the problem posed; Figures 3A and 3B are partial sectional views of an embodiment of an adjustable nose seat member, respectively in the retracted position and in the extended position; FIGS. 4A and 4B are partial views, in perspective and in section, illustrating a detail of the seat element nose and the trim of the seat element nose, w from above, respectively nose in retracted position and in position elongated; and FIGS. 5A and 5B are partial perspective and sectional views, illustrating a detail of the seat element liner, viewed from below, respectively nose in the retracted position and in the extended position.
detailed description
For the sake of clarity, only the elements useful for understanding the embodiments that will be described have been shown and will be detailed. In particular, the embodiment of the other elements of the seat element and in particular of the armature and the cap has not been detailed, the described embodiments being compatible with the usual embodiments of such elements.
It should be noted that, in the figures, the structural and / or functional elements common to the various embodiments may have the same references and may have identical structural, dimensional and material properties.
In the description which follows, when reference is made to absolute position qualifiers, such as the terms "before", "backward", "up", "down", "left", "right", etc., or relative, such as the terms "above", "below", "upper", "lower", etc., or with qualifiers for orientation, such as "vertical" or "horizontal", unless otherwise stated reference to the orientation of the figures or to a seat in its normal position of use. Unless otherwise specified, the expressions approximately, substantially and, in the order of, signify to within 10%, preferably to within 5%.
FIG. 1 is a very schematic perspective view of an example of a seat element of the type to which the described embodiments apply.
Then we will take, as an example, a seat equipped with an adjustable seat nose. However, all that is described later applies more generally to any seat element, including a headrest nose, a backrest nose, an armrest nose. The seat member generally comprises a frame 1 surmounted by a pad 2 (padding plus cap). The seat elements covered by this description are equipped with a nose 3, for example worn by the front of the seat and whose position (the distance) relative to the front of the seat is adjustable. For a folder or a headrest, the setting is in height. For an armrest, the adjustment is in length. The nose 3 is generally mounted on a sliding mechanism 4 in the frame 1 of the seat. The lining 2 is common to the seat 1 and to its nose 3. In other words, the front part of the lining wraps around the front part of the seat nose and slides on it during its movements. .
The cap 2 is, at least in the front part of the seat and at the nose 3, formed of a foam padding coated with a cap. For simplicity, we are content to speak and then represent the foam of the filling knowing that in practice this foam is coated with a cap.
Figures 2A and 2B are sectional views illustrating the state of the art and the problem. These figures represent, for example, the front of the seat with the nose, respectively in the retracted position (retracted nose) and elongated position (nose out). The thickness of the foam 22, in its portion likely to cover the front of the nose 3, must be as small as possible so that it marries more easily the armature of the nose 3 when it is wound. on the front of it, and on the other hand to avoid pressing on the calves of the occupant. Thus, as illustrated in Figures 2A and 2B, the foam 22 has a first thickness and in its rear portion 22e still resting on the horizontal portion of the nose 3 and a second thickness e2, less than the first, in its front portion 22m wrapping around the nose 3.
A disadvantage is that it affects the homogeneity of comfort in the front part of the seat due to the difference in the thickness of the foam that is felt in the horizontal portion (Figure 2B) when the nose is out.
Figures 3A and 3B are partial sectional views of an embodiment of a seat member, for example, a seat, with adjustable nose, respectively in the retracted position and in the extended position.
FIGS. 4A and 4B are partial views, in perspective and in section, illustrating a detail of the seat element nose and of the seat element gasket, viewed from above, respectively nose in the retracted position and in the extended position. .
Figures 5A and 5B are partial perspective and sectional views, illustrating a detail of the seat element nose liner, viewed from below, respectively nose in the retracted position and in the extended position.
As before, the nose 3 is carried by a sliding mechanism 4 in the armature, for example, of the seat 1. As before, the seat and nose pad are common, the front part of the trim winding in front of the nose of the seat. The foam 22 of the lining has a front portion 22m thinner (thickness e2) than the rear portion 22e resting on the front of the seat 1.
However, the foam 22 is, in an intermediate portion 22i, between the portion 22e and the portion 22m, of non-regular thickness. More specifically, the foam comprises, in this portion 22i, longitudinal grooves 24 (parallel to the direction of displacement of the nose 3) on the inner face. These grooves 24 are intended to slide on ribs 34 foam, reported (fixed) in the upper face of the nose 3.
The length of the grooves 24 and ribs 34 corresponds approximately to the length of the nose. Thus, in the retracted position (FIGS. 3A, 4A, 5A), all the grooves 24 are filled by the ribs 34. In the extended position (FIGS. 3B, 4B, 5B), the rear part of the grooves 24 is empty while the front part ribs supports the horizontal portion of the portion 22m. The gap between two neighboring ribs is approximately equal to the width of the ribs.
The width of the grooves 24 and ribs 34, and their distribution in the width of the seat can be variable depending on the position in the width. However, a uniform width is preferred to facilitate realization.
In addition, the greater the number of grooves and ribs, the better the homogeneity of the feeling of the occupant over the entire width of the seat. However, this number must remain compatible with an embodiment allowing a sliding of the nervers in the grooves. For example, the grooves and ribs have approximately a square section. The thickness of the foam in the portion 221, between the grooves 24, corresponds to the thickness e of the portion 22e. The thickness of foam 22 remaining in the portion 221 at the grooves 24 corresponds approximately to the thickness e1, minus the height of the grooves 24, corresponding approximately to the thickness of the ribs 34. As a specific example this thickness remaining in the portion 22i, at the grooves 24, approximately corresponds to the thickness e2 of the foam in its portion 22m.
The hardness of the foam of the ribs 34 is chosen to optimize the feeling of comfort homogeneity of the occupant between the different positions of the nose 3. As a particular embodiment, the foam of the ribs 34 is of the same nature as the foam 22.
Still as a particular embodiment, the thickness e1 is between approximately 30 and 60 mm, for example approximately 50 mm, and the thickness e2 is between approximately 10 and 30 mm. , for example of the order of 20 mm.
Preferably, the nose 3 is made of plastic. Alternatively, the nose is metallic.
An advantage of the embodiments that have been described is that it is possible to improve the comfort of the occupant by providing a homogeneous sensation at the front, for example, of the seat and more generally of the seat. before or from the top of the seat element, regardless of the position of the nose. In particular, it allows to maintain a support, for example a support under thigh, homogeneous over the entire nose, for example sitting.
Another advantage is that it preserves a minimum thickness of foam in the front part, for example, vertical nose, regardless of its position.
Another advantage is that it is easy to ventilate and fit the area of the seat element nose.
Various embodiments have been described. Various variations and modifications will be apparent to those skilled in the art. In particular, the various embodiments and variants that have been described are combinable and the numbers and dimensions of the ribs and grooves may vary depending on the seats. Furthermore, the practical implementation of the described embodiments is within the abilities of those skilled in the art from the functional indications given above.
