COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING IN ASSOCIATION PREBIOTICS, PROBIOTIC FRACTIONS AND ACID
LACTIC
The present invention relates to compositions for a cutaneous application comprising, in combination: - prebiotics; - probiotic fractions; and - lactic acid.
This combination allows a triple action on the skin microbiome: - supply of nutrients to good skin bacteria with prebiotics; - stimulation of the immune system of the skin with probiotic fractions; and - skin care while creating an optimal environment for good bacteria thanks to lactic acid.
[0003] "Prebiotic" is understood to mean a non-digestible food ingredient beneficially affecting the host by stimulating the growth and / or activity of one or a limited number of colon bacteria. This 1995 definition was refined in 2004 with the following three characteristics: - resistance to gastric acidity, hydrolysis by mammalian enzymes and gastrointestinal absorption; - fermentation by intestinal microflora; - selectively stimulates the growth and / or activity of intestinal bacteria associated with health and well-being.
Prebiotics are all sugars, they are considered as non-digestible fibers and can be classified according to their degree of polymerization: monosaccharides; There is for example Tagatose, which is naturally present in small amounts in nature, and which can be produced from lactose by isomerization of galactose. Mostly known for its sweetening and antidiabetic properties, it is also degraded by certain enterococcus and Lactobacillus bacteria. - disaccharides; There is for example lactulose. Composed of a fructose and a galactose, it is a natural product derived from the treatment of milk by high temperature. Studies show prebiotic activity on Bifidus bacteria, but it is marketed primarily for its osmotic laxative qualities. oligosaccharides; The most common is Inulin, an oligofructose polymer (abbreviated FOS for Fructo-oligosaccharides) naturally present in nature. Depending on the degree of polymerization one can also speak of oligofructose.
There are also other oligosaccharides, such as Transgalactooligosaccharides (TOS): a mixture of oligosaccharides derived from lactose by enzymatic transglycosylation. Their precise content depends on the original saccharides and the enzymes used. Generally, they are tri-, tetra- or pentasaccharides: polydextrose, Galactooligosaccharides (GOS) which are naturally present for example in colostrum and breast milk.
[0009] "Probiotic" is understood to mean living microorganisms which, when they are administered in adequate quantities, confer a health benefit on their host. It is important to note that dead organisms, even though they may have activity, should not be called probiotics.
Probiotics can be bacteria or yeasts.
Bacteria: genera Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium. The strains identified as probiotic apply mainly to the intestinal sphere, these include, respectively, Lactobacillus acidophilus, L. casei, L. gasseri, L. paracasei, L. Rhamnosus and Bifidobacteria animal, B. breve, B longum. - Yeasts: Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. boulardii found naturally in the lychee.
By "synbiotic" is meant a mixture of prebiotics and probiotics. Since the term evokes synergy, it should only be used when the action of this precise prebiotic stimulates the growth of the probiotics of the mixture.
Lactic acid can be considered a "postbiotic" term used to define bacterial products or metabolites of probiotic organisms that have a biological activity on the host. Lactic acid belongs to the group of alpha-hydroxy acids such as glycolic acid, citric acid and malic acid. Naturally produced by the muscles of the human body, it is also synthesized by certain bacteria (lactic acid bacteria).
Lactic acid being a chiral molecule, it is found in three forms: D, L, or DL. Humans only synthesize the L-form, while bacteria can synthesize both forms. Since lactic acid is used primarily as a food ingredient, there is a tendency to find more available L-form. In cosmetic use, there is less irritation with the L-shape.
These assets in combination, namely the at least one prebiotic, the at least one probiotic fraction and lactic acid are hydrophilic active ingredients and their formulation in compositions for application to the skin, which are often emulsions, present a number of difficulties, particularly in terms of rheology or viscosity as well as problems of conservation and phase shift.
Surprisingly these problems could be solved by setting the pH in an interval between 4 and 6, this interval being a pH range little used in cosmetic formulation.
