专利摘要:
Procedure for obtaining a sanwich panel with aluminum foam in the core, installation and product obtained. The process starts from the use of molten aluminum in one or more furnaces (1-1 '), so that the molten aluminum is poured into a kind of deposit (2) in which it is subjected to an injection phase of a gas, generating an aluminum foam that is extracted in a laminar and continuous manner, with a pre-established width and thickness, determining the core of the panel, to which it is applied continuously on the respective upper and lower faces (10) in which it defines an external face based exclusively on aluminum, and an internal face, destined to enter in counted with the core of the panel, of aluminum and silicon alloy, which is previously heated up to its fusion temperature to be fixed to the corresponding face of the core by metallurgical welding, after which the panel is cooled in chilling tapes (15), to be cut to the desired length. In this way a continuous panel is obtained, that is, the size of the installation does not affect the size of panels that are finally wanted, in addition to supposing a much cheaper process and product than others known to date. DESCRIPTION

Procedure for obtaining a sandwich panel with aluminum foam in the core, installation and product obtained.
 5 OBJECT OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a process for obtaining a sandwich panel, made of aluminum, specifically a panel in which two outer sheets of aluminum alloys of reduced thickness, and an intermediate core, of a majority thickness, are obtained. made of aluminum foam with a density considerably lower than that of the outer sheets and with a high degree of porosity.

The object of the invention is to achieve a continuous and economical process, which minimizes the costs necessary to obtain the final panels, without detracting from the 15 physical properties required for this type of panels, obtaining economic savings of the order of 30 % compared to other industrial processes and without limitations on the length of the pieces obtained.

The invention affects both the manufacturing process and the installation used in said process, as well as the panel finally obtained.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Aluminum foam has been known for many years, but the difficulties in obtaining it have greatly limited its industrialization, that is, its practical use at the industrial level.

There are two methods for obtaining aluminum foam, one in which molten aluminum is used to which gas is used as an expansion agent and additives, and another, in which powder aluminum is used, is split of a homogeneous mixture of said aluminum with an expanding agent, such as titanium hydroxide, and the mixture is subjected to compaction.

In both cases, manufacturing costs are very high, so production is very low and focused only on special applications.

This level of costs is determined by the impossibility of manufacturing panels in continuous and in large formats. 5

Trying to obviate this problem, the applicant himself is the holder of the Spanish Invention Patent P200501536, in which a method for the manufacture of sandwich panels is described, in which to obtain the core of the panels is part of powder aluminum mixed with a foaming product, so that said mixture is densified by compaction and thermal consolidation obtaining a plate that is first hot and then cold rolled, until a precursor is obtained which, fragmented, is introduced into a foaming oven, in which also penetrates outer aluminum sheets, each of them with two layers of different thickness and different alloys, so that the interior has a lower melting temperature 15 than the exterior.

In the furnace of the furnace the foaming of the precursor takes place between said plates generating the foam core that is joined to the sheets by welding or metallurgical union, which is subjected to a cooling and stabilization phase. twenty

Although high quality panels are obtained through the described process, it has manufacturing costs that would be desirable to reduce, to which it must be added that it is a rather complex installation, in addition to the fact that the process does not really it is totally continuous, since once the precursor is obtained it is fragmented to be introduced in a foaming oven, so that the panels obtained will be limited to the size of the oven, with the limitations or high cost of the necessary facilities when the panels to be obtained are of considerable length.
30 DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The procedure that is recommended resolves in a fully satisfactory way the problem previously exposed in each and every one of the aspects mentioned, starting from a much simpler installation, which allows to obtain continuous panels 5 of the length that is required and with economic savings of the order of 30% compared to the process described in the invention patent P200501536.

To do this, and more specifically, instead of splitting from powdered aluminum mixed with a foaming agent, the process of the invention is based on kiln-cast aluminum, mixed with silicon carbide or any other material that increases its viscosity, which it is introduced into a kind of reservoir from which a gas, preferably air, is injected inferiorly, so that the mixture of molten metal with the gas tends to float, to be extracted superiorly in the form of a continuous sheet, of a pre-established thickness, to which are fixed by their upper and lower face, respectively, by respective metallurgical welding plates that are applied by rollers heated on their surface, plates that are fed from a rewinder and whose surface intended to come into contact with the foam core of Aluminum is previously heated through corresponding furnaces.
 twenty
More specifically, the plates that form the end walls of the sandwich panel to be obtained, have a configuration in which an external face based exclusively on aluminum is defined, and an internal face, the one intended to come into contact with the core of the panel, mixture of aluminum and silicon.
 25
In this way, by having a lower melting point on the inner side than the outer one, the plates can be heated by their inner face by means of the furnaces described above until their melting temperature without risk of their external face being affected , since their melting temperature is higher, so that these plates are unwound, heated and applied by means of the hot roller pair described above so that a sandwich type panel in which the extreme layers are obtained in said process they are firmly fixed to the foamed aluminum core by metallurgical welding, the product obtained being continuously passed through cooling belts to be subsequently cut into sheets to the required measurements by means of a shear, and
transported by means of the corresponding conveyor belt to the corresponding stacking and storage system.

The invention also affects the final product obtained, since although the panel could have a similar appearance to that envisaged in the invention patent P200501536, it should be noted that in said patent for obtaining the same one starts from powdered aluminum and a foaming agent based on titanium, so that the final composition of the panel core is different in both cases, so that the core of the panel obtained in the present invention completely lacks any remaining titanium in its composition.
 10
In this way, a less expensive panel is obtained, with a simpler installation and which, when obtained continuously, can be cut to the desired length, without any limitation in that regard.
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS 15

To complement the description that will then be made and in order to help a better understanding of the characteristics of the invention, according to a preferred example of practical implementation thereof, an accompanying plan is attached as an integral part of said description. By way of illustration and not limitation, the following has been represented:

Figure 1.- Shows a schematic view of the installation necessary for the implementation of the procedure for obtaining an aluminum sandwich panel in accordance with the object of the present invention. 25
PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION

In view of the above-mentioned figure, the process of the invention can be seen as part of an installation in which one or more furnaces (1-1 ') are established in which aluminum is melted, or aluminum with silicon carbide or any other material that increases its viscosity furnaces that pour molten aluminum at a temperature of the order of 700 ° C in a kind of deposit (2), in which a first chamber (3) is defined, which is accessed by molten aluminum, communicated with a second camera (4) in whose background a
gas injector (5), preferably air, which forms a plurality of bubbles within the aluminum, which tend to rise, creating the foamy core that is chased for the panel, defining in the upper area of said tank (2) a exit or overflow (6), assisted by a conveyor belt (7), in which the aluminum foam core that will participate in the panel to be obtained is continuously obtained, being able to adjust the thickness 5 of the protruding sheet between 6 and 40 mm, obtaining a continuous band (8) of a width of the order of 1600 mm at a temperature of the order of 540 ° C.

Said continuous band (8) constituting the foam core of the panel is passed through a pair of heated rollers (9) which in turn apply a plate (10) with a thickness of the order on the upper and lower face of said core. 0.7 mm, in which an external (12) and majority face is defined, of the order of 0.6 mm, which will define the external face of the panel, based on aluminum, and an internal face (11), of smaller thickness, of the order of 0.1 mm, based on aluminum and silicon, which has a lower melting point than the outer face (12).
 fifteen
The plates (10) are supplied continuously through respective unwinders (13), their inner face (11) being passed through an oven (14), which heats them to a temperature of the order of 559-580 ° C, so that said internal face reaches the melting temperature, without affecting the majority and external layer (12), with a slightly higher melting point. twenty

In this way, the heated rollers (9) apply the plates (10) on the aluminum foam core that constitutes the continuous band (8), carrying out a metallurgical welding fixation due to the temperature at which the different components when joined together. 25

Consequently, at the exit of the heated rollers (9) a sandwich panel is obtained in which an aluminum foam core participates, and two end layers and essentially aluminum laminates, a panel that will be at a temperature of the order of 500 ° C, so it must be properly refrigerated progressively, 30 being passed through some cooling belts (15) until reaching a temperature of the order of 200 ° C, to be deposited on the area of cut to size, by means of a shear (16) or suitable machinery , so that at the exit of this machinery a final panel (17) of the required dimensions is obtained, which through a series of conveyor belts (18) and a stacking system (19) the product is finally stored 35
for later distribution.

The continuous process thus described will allow panel production at a rate of the order of 1.5 meters per minute.
