Method of recovery of soil, olive trees and other trees, affected by VerticHIium
based on the use of lime v¡va
STATE OF THE TECHNIQUE
A series of documents have been located that can be considered the background closest to the present invention. Among them, the following stand out:
1.- Trichoderma strains useful for the treatment and / or prevention of infections
caused by phytopathogenic microorganisms:
2012 patent: PCT / ES2012 / 070252
The invention relates to the use of Trichoderma fungal strains for the prevention and / or treatment of plant and / or soil infections caused by phytopathogenic fungi belonging to the Verticillium genus. In addition, the invention relates
to new fungal strains belonging to the species Trichodermaharzianum and Trichodermaatroviride that are also resistant to copper capable of inhibiting the growth of other microorganisms, preferably fungi, phytopathogens. Therefore, its use is proposed as a fertilizer and for the prevention and / or treatment of infections of plants and / or soils caused by phytopathogenic microorganisms,
preferably by the defoliant or non-defoliant patotypes of Verticilliumdahliae, the causative agent of olive verticillosis.
This patent does not conflict with the idea proposed in this document, since the system described in this document is based on the use of quicklime, while the detailed patent claims the use of strains of the Trichoderma species.
2.-Trichoderma granule production 2010 patent: PCT / IB2008 / 054757
Similar to the previous case, in this case the use of a granulate based on Trichoderma is proposed.
This patent does not conflict with the idea proposed in this document, since the system described in this document is based on the use of quicklime, while the detailed patent claims the use of a granulate based on Trichoderma.
3.-Method of using Bacillus polymyxa 9A to protect plants against verticillium wilt
1987 Patent: US4663162 A
This patent is based on the use of Bacillaceae capable of inhibiting the growth of Verticilliumdahliae, it is shown to be effective in protecting agricultural crops against Verticillium wilt. In particular, it is effective among others against
Verticilliumdahliae, which affects the olive grove.
As in previous cases, the compound to be used is clearly different and does not conflict with the use of quicklime, claimed in the present patent.
4.-Method for the detection of defoliant and non-defoliant patotypes of
verticilliumdahliae in plants
2002 patent: PCT / ES2002 / 000258
The invention relates, in general, to the typing of plant pathogens and, in particular, to the identification of defoliant and non-defoliant pathotypes of
Verticyliumdahliae in plants susceptible to being infected by V. dahliae, by sequential use of two polymerase chain reactions.

In this case, the patented system is not comparable either, since it is based on DNA analysis for Verticillium detection, while the present patent shows a method of treatment for recovery of the olive tree and eradication of Verticillium.
5.- Solarization systems.
F. J. López Escudero, M. A. Blanco López, Bol. San. Veg. Pests, 27: 503-518, 2001 Solarization consists of deploying plastics so that the earth picks up temperature, when the temperature rises, the fungus is eliminated, this technique is useful for the treatment of disinfection of the earth, but it has not been described as useful to recover the tree.
These systems do not conflict with the proposed one, which consists of using quicklime to eliminate the disease, healing the damaged tree.
EXPLANATION OF THE INVENTION
This invention consists of a system or method to combat verticilli in trees, originated by the fungus Verticillium. It serves both to heal the tree, and to disinfect the earth.
The technical problem posed is:
A. - How to cure the woodland affected by the fungus Verticillium. There is no similar technique that recovers the tree from this condition, the solution that is usually done consists of starting and burning the affected tree. Therefore, this contribution is a novelty worldwide.
B. - How to recover the land affected by the fungus Verticillium, eliminating it so that it returns to be fertile land without affectation by said fungus. There are other techniques to address the problem based on solarization (Solarization systems, López Escudero, 2001) that do not conflict with the present proposal at a technical level.
The technique has been tested successfully in the case of olive groves, treating in recent years about twenty trees. The first who were treated with this system, 7 years ago, are fully productive, being the total cure and not showing recurrence of the disease.
It has been tested in about twenty olive trees picual variety, the experimentation was carried out between 2009 and 2016, monitoring the evolution of the olive grove. In particular, the trees on which it has been experienced presented three feet of conformation.
The recovery method is useful not only for the olive grove, but for trees in general that are affected by the fungus Verticillium. The quicklime treatment is the one that eliminates the fungus, regardless of the type of tree.
SYSTEM DETAIL
Two alternative methods are presented, one treatment for the tree and another for the soil. The first of them refers to how to cure a tree affected by the fungus, while the second is about how to clean the soil infected by the fungus so that it is fertile again.
A) Method of recovery of woodland affected by Verticillium.
The proposed technique involves performing the following steps:
A.I.- Open a ditch 2 to 3 meters long, 70-80 centimeters wide and 80 to 100 centimeters deep at a distance of 80 centimeters from the foot of the tree affected by Verticillium, extracting the earth.
A.2.- Leave the roots in the air.
A.3.- Sprinkle the inside of the trench with 10 kg of quicklime.
A.4.- If the trees are irrigated, leave the treated tree without irrigation.
A.5.- Repeat the treatment with 10 kg of quicklime annually until the tree is recovered.
A.6.- The recovery becomes effective and complete between three and four years after the treatment.
B) Method of recovery of the soil affected by Verticillium.
B.I.- Extract the soil affected by the fungus Verticillium and leave it on the surface.
B.2.- Burn the organic remains.
B.3.- Extend the extracted earth, maintaining a thickness of 20 to 25 centimeters. B.4.- Treat with 1 kg of quicklime per square meter.
B.5.- Repeat annually for 4 years.
B.6.- The soil is cleaned of the Verticillium fungus by the fifth year and can be reused.
