TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to the field of presence control and efficient use of electrical resources in buildings, especially in classrooms of universities, institutes, companies, schools, schools ... This is carried out thanks to a new system that incorporates people identification readers (usually smart card readers with or without contact) and a controller of the classroom's electrical resources.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
At present, the classrooms have an infinite number of electronic equipment such as lighting equipment (with specific lighting requirements for classrooms), air conditioning equipment (air conditioning / heating), computers, interactive whiteboards, projector cannons, a video switch / distributor, an audio system consisting of amplifier, microphone and speakers ... All this equipment that has been introduced in the classrooms over the last decade has led to an increase in performance and comfort for both teachers as for students, but it has also greatly increased energy consumption per classroom. So it is necessary to efficiently manage this type of resources since, a misuse or continued use without control of all this deployment of electrical means, is a very important energy waste.
In addition, it is also convenient to control the people who are in the classroom, not only for the control of attendance to the different classes, but also to have a specific location of the people who are in the center; this is especially
important in case of urgent evacuation, especially for people with some
physical disability that hinders your mobility.
Some of the existing systems address some of these aspects but from another point of view and with various disadvantages. For example, there are documents that have addressed the issue of energy saving in classrooms such as Chinese patent application CN103279096A or US patent US20130024029 that propose an energy control system that turns off lights and air conditioning or closes the door electronically when people are not detected in a room; or the Chinese applications CN103679592A and CN203552305U that propose a management system that turns off lights and fans with relays, in addition to monitoring the environmental conditions of the class, where the connection with a server in the cloud makes a reservation management of classroom spaces .
On the other hand, you can find management systems in the classroom that use staff identification with an identification card reader but do not reflect the idea of energy savings as such (such as, for example, Chinese patent application CN1 01436351 B) .
But none of the solutions mentioned so far presents a comprehensive solution to the problem of energy management of all audiovisual media in addition to lighting and air conditioning of a classroom efficiently and robustly, with the advantages of the proposal of the present invention.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The objective of the present invention is to develop a method and system that solves the problems existing in the state of the art allowing an efficient use of energy resources and at the same time the presence control in classrooms. The objective of the present invention is the management of electrical equipment (devices) within a classroom for optimization of consumption (for example, by activating them by teacher identification), and at the same time make a presence management of teachers and students in the classes taught in the classroom, in addition to a precise location of people, especially those who have a physical disability that hinders their mobility and therefore need special attention in case of urgent evacuation of the center.
The system will consist of a controller with inputs and outputs (for example, for connection of sensors and relays and for communication with different devices both outside and inside the classroom) and at least two readers for smart cards (for example, contactless cards type MIFARE, RFID ...). One of the readers will give access to the class and allow the door to be opened (for example, by activating an electric latch) and another reader will be inside the classroom, for example at the teacher's table. The controller is connected to the data network (communication network) of the center (university, college, institute, company ...), using any communication technology (for example, Ethernet or WIFI or any other type of communications technology ). The controller will also be connected to the two card readers directly or through the center's communications network. The controller will be responsible for deactivating each of the electrical / electronic devices in the classroom (lights, air conditioning, multimedia, computers). The two card readers are also connected (using any communications technology, for example Ethernet) to the center's data network (directly or alternatively, through the controller), and will be responsible for verifying the authorization of teacher cards and students with the personnel database located in a center management server. The system allows to deactivate automatically and in an orderly way all the electrical devices of the classroom, and at the same time it can automatically verify the attendance of teachers and students to the class. In addition, the system allows additional services such as the tele-maintenance of multimedia equipment and the precise location of people with mobility difficulties for rapid evacuation in case of incidents.
Against the state of the art, the proposed invention provides, among others, the following technical advantages:
• Efficient and comprehensive energy management of all electrical and electronic devices in the classroom.
• Control of access to the classroom and control of the presence of students in class, allowing efficient management of class hours and automatic attendance control.
• Tele-maintenance of electronic equipment.
• Location of people (especially physically disabled by classroom) for various applications, for example, in case of immediate evacuation in case of emergency.
In a first aspect, the present invention proposes a method for the efficient use of resources of a classroom in a building, where the classroom has an electronic device controller (controller), a first electronic device reader of identifications at the entrance of the classroom ( first reader) and a second electronic identification reader device inside the classroom (second reader), where the controller, the first and second reader communicate with a communication network (data network) of the building, where the method comprises the following steps :
a) Enter a person's identification in the first reader;
b) The first reader, check in a database said identification: b1) If said identification corresponds to a student, inform a building management server, communicated with the communication network, that said student has accessed said classroom ; b2) If said identification corresponds to a teacher, check in the database that said teacher has access to said classroom at that time and if so, perform the following steps:
b21) The first reader will activate the opening of the classroom door, if it was closed (and optionally, also inform the management server that said teacher has accessed said classroom); therefore, this reader represents the access control to the class with the first identification that normally must be of the teacher. b22) Enter the person's identification in the second reader; b23) The second reader, check in the database said identification and if said identification corresponds to a teacher who has allowed access to said classroom at that time, notify the second reader of the presence of the teacher within the classroom to the controller; b24) When notified of the presence of the teacher in the classroom, the controller will enable (for example, turn on) a set of electrical equipment in the classroom; b25) The second reader will detect that the teacher has finished using the classroom and notify the second reader, that the teacher has finished using the classroom to the controller; b26) Upon being notified that the teacher has finished using the classroom, the controller will initiate a shutdown sequence of the classroom's electrical equipment set.
The introduction by the person of their identification in the first and second reader (steps a) and b22) can be done using, the person a smart electronic card, for example MIFARE type (in that case, the first and second readers are readers of smart electronic cards) or it can be done using the person an electronic device (a mobile phone or a smart electronic card) for example with NFC technology.
The database can be local to the readers or be in another node, for example on the management server. In the second case, when the reader (first or second) reads the identification, it sends the read identification to the management server to perform the check using the communication network and the management server sends the result of the check to the reader using the network Communication. If the database is local (it is stored in the first reader and in the second reader), when the readers read the identification (and check it in the database), they can also send the read identification to the management server through of the communication network, so that it stores that said person has accessed said classroom.
In step b21) in addition to opening the door, the first reader can send a message to the controller to turn on part or all of the classroom lights.
The controller can be additionally connected to one or more sensors and, in that case, upon being notified of the presence of the person in the classroom, the controller performs the enabling of certain electrical equipment according to the information on physical variables of the classroom provided by said sensors. Said sensors may comprise at least one light intensity sensor and at least one temperature sensor and the controller only enables artificial lighting if at least one light intensity sensor detects lighting measurements below a certain previously defined threshold and only enables air conditioning when at least one temperature sensor detects that the classroom temperature is outside a previously defined range.
To enable or disable a device, the controller activates / deactivates the device via relays and / or communicates with the device via a communication network equal to or different from the first communication network. That is, for the switching on and / or off of each equipment of the set of electrical equipment in the classroom, the controller depending on the type of equipment is either directly connected with a relay on / off of the equipment, or communicates with the equipment through the communication network or communicates with the equipment through a specific communication bus (for example, RS232, RS485, CAN, etc.), other than the first communication network.
Additionally, the controller can receive from at least one classroom electrical equipment, information about the maintenance status of the equipment through the communication network or a specific communication bus with which it communicates with it and, in that case, The controller sends said maintenance information to the building management server to take the appropriate maintenance measures of the equipment.
With the information collected, the proposed invention can manage the occupancy of the classrooms and at the same time store the students who have attended the different classrooms, thus also serving as an automated teacher planning system.
The person can enter his identification in the second reader, introducing a cardintelligent electronics in a slot of the second reader and, in that case, the second readerdetects that the person has finished using the classroom when the person removes the cardelectronics of said second reader slot.
The building can be a teaching center (university, institute, company, school, school ....) and, in that case, the communication network is a communication network (network ofdata) of the school and the management server is a server of the schoolteaching.
The set of electronic equipment in the classroom can comprise at least one of thefollowing, air conditioning, lighting equipment, audio and / or video equipment, computers, at least one projector cannon and / or an electronic whiteboard projector ... TheShutdown sequence of the classroom electrical equipment set may comprise:
-Turn off the classroom air conditioning equipment first;-Please turn off part of the lighting equipment ;;- Turn off audio / video equipment;- Turn off the at least one classroom computer if after a period of waiting beforedefined, the controller has not received notification of the presence of another teacher in theclassroom;- Turn off the projector and / or electronic board projector cannon if after a period ofwait previously defined, the controller has not received notification of the presence ofanother teacher in the classroom;- Turn off all classroom lighting equipment if after a waiting periodpreviously defined, the controller has not received notification of the presence of anotherTeacher in the classroom.
If there is a failure in the network or communication buses, you can enablemanual on / off of electrical equipment.
In a second aspect, the present invention proposes a system for the efficient use of resources of a classroom in a building that has a communication network and a management server connected to said communication network, where the system comprises:
- A first electronic identifier reader device located at the entrance of the classroom comprising a first communication module configured to communicate said first reader with a building management server through the communication network and with the controller and where the first reader comprises means for:
- Receive from an individual an identification of said person (through an electronic device of said person such as smart electronic card, mobile phone or other device); -Check in a database said identification and if said identification corresponds to a student, inform the management server that said student has accessed said classroom and if said identification corresponds to a teacher who has allowed access to said classroom at that time , activate the opening of the classroom door, if it was closed;
- A second electronic identifier reader device located within the classroom with a second communication module configured to communicate said second reader with the management server through the communication network and with the controller and where the second reader comprises means for:
-Receive of a person an identification of said person (through aelectronic device of said person such as smart electronic card, telephonemobile or other device);-Check in a database said identification and if said identificationcorresponds to a teacher who has allowed access to said classroom at that time,notify the second reader of the presence of the teacher (to which theidentification) to the controller;-Detect that the teacher has finished using the classroom and notify the controller;
- The electronic controller device comprises a third communication module configured to communicate said controller with the management server using the communication network and with the first and second reader and where the controller comprises means for:
-Receive from the second reader a notification of the presence of the teacher within theclassroom;-When notified of the presence of the person in the classroom, enable a set ofclassroom electrical equipment;-Receive from the second reader a notification that the teacher has finished usingfrom the classroom to the controller;-When notified that the teacher has finished using the classroom, start ashutdown sequence of the electrical equipment set in the classroom.
where with each electrical equipment in the set of electrical equipment in the classroom, the controller depending on the type of equipment, either directly connected with a relay on / off the equipment, or communicates with the equipment through the communication network , or it communicates with the equipment through a specific communication bus (for example, RS232, RS485, CAN or any other type) other than the communication network.
Communications between the first and second reader and the controller can be made through the communication network or through a direct connection between the first reader and the controller and another direct connection between the second reader and the controller (without going through the network Communication).
The controller can communicate with the communication network using WIFI or Ethernet communication technology and the first and second reader can communicate with the communication network using Ethernet communication technology, for example.
Readers can be MIFARE type smart card readers. The network of
Communication can be a WIFI or Ethernet network or any other type.
Finally, in another aspect of the invention there is a computer program comprising instructions executable by computer to implement the described method, when executed in a computer (or a digital signal processor, an application-specific integrated circuit, a microprocessor , a micro controller or any other form of programmable hardware). Said instructions may be stored in a digital data storage medium.
For a more complete understanding of the invention, its objects and advantages, reference may be made to the following specification and the accompanying drawings.

Figure 1 schematically shows the block architecture of the system according to an embodiment of the invention.
Detailed description of the invention
The present invention proposes a method and system that solves the energy management problems of all electrical and electronic equipment in building rooms (especially in classrooms of various centers such as universities, institutes, companies, colleges, schools) .... In addition, Carrying out an efficient management of these electrical / electronic media allows collaterally to provide other innovative services if required, such as the face-to-face control of students and teachers, allowing interaction with the teaching management software and classroom assignment, location of people with disability in the classrooms and tele-maintenance of equipment among other services.
In one embodiment, this invention uses smart cards since currently, all the personnel of a center usually have smart cards (for example, contactless cards with MIFARE technology) due to their low cost and the wide variety of services that can provide.
For this, two card reader devices are used, a first reader outside the classroom at the entrance door to or near it and a second reader inside the classroom. It also consists of a controller device that can be inside the classroom (for example in the classroom electrical panel) and that has connection with different devices of the center to which the classroom belongs (for example, with center management servers) through the network data center (network communications center that can use any known technology). The controller can be any type of electronic device capable of processing and communications (a programmable automaton, embedded computer, personal computer, server ...) and connects to the data network (also called the communications network) of the center using a any of the different types of existing communications technology (for example, Ethernet, WIFI or even mobile telephony). The two card readers are also connected to the center's data network and to the controller, using any one of the different types of existing communications technology (for example, Ethernet or Bluetooh). The reader located in the classroom entrance must also be connected to the classroom door opening system (for example, with an electric door latch), since it will open the door once the entrance is authorized. The classroom access reader is responsible for access control and face-to-face control of students, while the reader located inside the classroom (for example, at the teacher's table) is responsible for managing the presence of the teacher. For this, each student when he enters the class will pass his card through the first reader (the one at the entrance); the teacher will also pass the card through the first reader (to open the door and to activate part of the electronic equipment as will be explained below) and then also pass the card through the second reader. The second reader will send a message to the controller indicating the presence of the teacher and the controller, once received a teacher presence message, will enable the audiovisual media, lighting and climate of the corresponding classroom.
In a preferred embodiment, the teacher will leave his card in the second reader, until the class is over. Once the teacher finishes his class and withdraws his card the system will automatically disconnect the equipment in an orderly manner. In an alternative embodiment, the teacher will not leave the card in the second reader and the system will detect that the teacher finishes his class, because the card passes the reader a second time. This second embodiment is less preferable because it is possible that the teacher forgets to pass his card for the second time through the reader, therefore, the system will not detect that the class is over and the equipment will be turned on without need.
At the time of shutdown (disconnection) of electronic equipment by the controller, it should be taken into account that many of the equipment (most multimedia or computer equipment) cannot be turned off using simple contacts or relays, for example it is the case of a computer or a projector cannon. That is why the controller is responsible for communicating through the data network with these devices and proceeds to send the necessary messages to make an orderly shutdown that does not damage the controlled devices with an abrupt power failure. In other systems, such as non-dimmable lighting, switching off is not a problem, its maneuver being sufficient, for example, simply with relays.
The connection of many of the equipment through the center's data network allows, apart from the aforementioned shutdown (and switching on), a two-way communication that provides information about the maintenance of the equipment itself, indicating for example when to change the bulb to a projector cannon, or when to clean filters in an air conditioner. This information will be sent to the management server of the center that will be in charge of the management of the tele-maintenance service.
The use of card readers and their connection to the central database of the center's staff allows parallel management of teacher and student class attendance in an automatic way, and indirectly, a management of hours of occupation of the classrooms in the centers, allowing more efficient use of teaching spaces. In addition, it allows that in centers with many students (like most teaching centers), to have the students perfectly located, especially if they are people with mobility difficulties for a rapid evacuation in case of emergency of the center (for example a conato of fire). For this, the center's personnel database has registered those with mobility difficulties, so that when the student enters his or her card through the reader, it is registered in which classes there are people with some type of Disability that requires evacuation assistance. This allows the primary intervention teams themselves to know perfectly where the people who need help are located.
Figure 1 shows the architecture of the proposed system according to an embodiment of the invention. The system comprises a controller (1) located in each classroom or class (3) that you want to control the building. The building can be a teaching center (university, institute, school, training companies ...) although it can also be applied in other types of buildings where there is one or more rooms that you want to manage in the manner set forth in the present invention . Said controller (1) is connected to the data network
(7) from the center using any communication technology (for example, Ethernet or WIFI or any other type of communication technology). In addition to the center's data network, the controller (1) has inputs and outputs that can be connected to relays for switching off / on equipment switch type, to sensors (for example, temperature
(twenty) or brightness (21) to measure the temperature or light intensity in the class respectively to control them properly) and other communication buses (in addition to allowing you to communicate with the center's data network) for connection with other electronic equipment ( RS232, RS485, CAN, etc.) if necessary (for example, because these devices are not connected to the center's communications network). The system
it can be located in the electrical panel of the class or preferably in a nearby place
for (de) connection of the power circuits with relays.
The electrical equipment whose on / off (or generally speaking, whose control) is performed through the controller can be lighting (9), air conditioning (10), personal computers (11) or laptops or tablets (22), interactive whiteboard (12), projector cannon (13), supported by a video switch (14), video distributor (15) and teacher monitor (16), audio system with amplifier (17), microphone (18 ) and speakers (19) or any other type of electrical equipment found in classrooms.
The system also has two smart card readers for teacher and student identification. These smart cards can be of any known type, for example, of technology, RFID (acronym for Radio Frequency I Dentification, Radio Frequency Identification) or NFC (acronym for Near Field Communication, Near Field Communication). In a preferred embodiment they are contactless smart cards MIFARE type. These readers are communication devices that can communicate with the card and retrieve information from it (for example, some type of user identification of the card and / or other information of said user). That is, they are specific devices that can communicate with the card allowing the reading (and sometimes writing) of the data stored on that card. They can also be general-purpose electronic devices (PCs, tablets, laptops, smartphones or smartphones ...) with a reader and antenna for RFID or NFC in which a specific application that allows communication and reading / writing has been downloaded with the card.
The first reader (2) will be located at the entrance of the class (outside of it). This reader will be connected to the door (4) of the class (for example, to an electric latch of the same) so that it can open and optionally close the door (control access to the classroom). The second reader (5) is located within the class, usually near the audiovisual equipment available to the teacher, for example on the teacher's table (6) or on the audiovisual equipment console if there is one. Both readers are connected to the center's data network (7) and, through it, to databases (8) of staff and / or students of the center through an Ethernet connection or any other type of technology of known communications. These readers can have a direct connection with the classroom controller (through any type of communications technology) or communicate with it not directly, but through the data center network (7) with which both readers As the controller have connection.
An example of operation according to an embodiment of the invention is described below.
When the teacher arrives at the class, when passing his card (for example, an RFID card) through the input reader (2), he reads the teacher's identification (from his card) and accesses a staff database of the center (for example, through the center's data network) and check that it is a teacher and that it is up to him to teach in that classroom; then, it gives you access by operating the electric latch for a few seconds if the door is closed (if the door is open, for example, because another teacher has already taught in that classroom because then the latch will not be required). If, on the contrary, it verifies that it is not the teacher that corresponds to it, it can act in several ways as the system is designed. For example, you may not open the door and send an alarm message to the center server, you can open the door (so as not to leave the teacher out) but send a message to the center server saying that there is an anomaly, you can notify via The data network of the center to the person in charge informing him of the situation, can show a message in the reader himself informing the teacher of what is happening, can emit some kind of visual or audible alarm ... or in any other way than the Center address see timely. Of course for proper operation, the classrooms that correspond to each teacher at each teaching hour must be duly collected in the database and updated by the system administrator if there is any change.
In one embodiment, in order to increase security, in addition to passing the card, the reader will ask the teacher for a personal identification number, PIN, which the teacher will enter through a user interface (keyboard) that the reader will have in these cases. Only if the reader verifies that the PIN is correct, will the classroom door open. This extra security mechanism can be used in classrooms with high-cost equipment such as laboratories, to prevent anyone from entering it only with the teacher's card.
The personnel databases (with data from teachers and / or students) that readers access can be external to them (for example, on the center's management server, and in that case they will be accessed through the center data network) or internal to them (in that case, said databases will be periodically synchronized with the databases on the center management server to ensure that the information in the local database is correct and is duly updated.
In one embodiment, when the reader verifies that it is a teacher and that it is up to him to teach in that classroom, in addition to opening the door if necessary, the reader (2) can send an order to the controller (directly or through the center data network) to enable other equipment, such as all or part of the class lighting. This order can be to enable full lighting or only the minimum security lighting for the occupation of that space (for example, one third of the class lighting).
In one embodiment, in addition to the teacher who is going to teach, there may be other people (center director, concierge, security staff ...) who also have permission at the central server to open the classroom doors (and to illuminate them ), so when you pass your card with your identification by the first reader, the door opens.
Students, as they enter, pass their card (for example, an RFID card) through the same reader (2) and their attendance to that class is automatically counted (the card will include an identification of the student that is what the student will read reader). It is an operation of less than one second, which does not imply any delay or inconvenience for the class. This information of the students that are in each class will be sent through the data network (7) to a central server (or management server) of the center, where it will be stored in a database (8) that students are in each class which is useful for the control of attendance and location of students. Especially, those students who also have some type of mobility impairment (accounted for in the database) will be registered as being located in that class.
As with teachers, in one embodiment the reader, when reading the student's identification, can access a database of the center's staff (for example, through the center's data network) and check that · it is a student and it is up to him to teach in that classroom; and if this is not the case, notify said anomaly, for example, by sending a message to the center's management server, notifying the person in charge of the situation through the center's data network, showing a message in the reader itself informing the student of what happens, emitting some kind of visual alarm
or sound ...
Once in the classroom, the teacher places his card in the opening enabled for this by the second reader (5). The second reader can re-verify that it is a teacher ID and that class is assigned as an additional security measure. Then the second reader (5) sends a message to the controller to enable the appropriate electronic equipment, such as audiovisual, lighting and climate media. This does not mean that all the devices are necessarily turned on, but that the devices that are considered necessary for teaching are allowed to be used, being left to the teacher's choice. This can be done manually or with tele-operation of the system. If the teacher is not going to use any electrical equipment, then he will not need to place his card in the second reader.
As indicated, for a more efficient management of resources, the controller (1) may have communication with one or more light intensity sensors (Iuxometers) or one or more temperature sensors. In this way, artificial lighting would only be enabled by the controller when the luxometers detect lighting measures lower than necessary (and will enable lighting to a greater or lesser degree according to the measurement of illumination detected). Similarly, air conditioning would only be enabled (on of the air conditioning equipment) by the controller when the sensors
temperature detect a temperature outside a previously established or set range
according to criteria of comfort and energy efficiency.
Once the teacher finishes his class, he just has to remove his card and immediately the reader stops detecting it, sends this information to the controller (that the teacher has finished his class), which will cause the controller to activate the shutdown sequence of all The equipment turned on. For greater efficiency, an ordered sequence can be followed as follows (this is just an example, and of course other shutdown sequences are possible):
• The air conditioning equipment stops at that time.
• The lighting is initially relegated to a minimum of security (for example one third of the total lighting).
• Audio amplifier and wireless microphone is turned off (disabled).
• The computer (11) is connected during a waiting period (for example, 10 minutes) of the next teacher, otherwise, or in case of delay of the next teacher, the controller sends a shutdown order, for example via Ethernet.
• Projector cannon and short-range projector for electronic board remains on for a waiting period (same or different from the computer) until waiting for the next teacher, otherwise the power-off command is sent via Ethernet.
• Finally, if the next class does not start in a certain period (for example, 10 minutes), the lighting is completely switched off.
Although only the shutdown sequence is shown here, the equipment can also be switched on in an orderly sequence designed for greater energy efficiency.
Although as indicated, there are certain devices such as non-dimmable lighting that can be activated / deactivated simply with relays; most of the system's operation is based on communications between the controller and the different equipment, which can be through the center's data network (also called an institutional network, usually through an Ethernet bus) or through other communications buses specific (RS232, RS485, CAN, etc.) for connection with other electronic equipment if necessary.
In case of a fall in the data network and / or some of these other specific communication buses, if any, the system is automatically in manual to allow the local operation of the system, and therefore it can continue with the normal teaching operation , activating the equipment manually.
The controller, responsible for the on / off of electronic equipment, such as projectors and air conditioning, via Ethernet or the appropriate communication bus, also receives messages warning of breakdowns, revisions and changes of parts in equipment. This allows the controller to forward fault and maintenance alerts to the center management server in order to manage the facilities by tele-maintenance.
Although many of the embodiments presented refer to RFID or NFC cards and in particular MIFARE cards (and appropriate readers for these cards), the present invention is not limited to the use of these cards and may also work, rather than with Tatas with other devices that communicate an identification of the teacher or student that carries them, for example, devices (for example, smartphones) carried by teachers or students, with NFC that can also serve as an electronic identification tag MIFARE, due to its compatibility.
