专利摘要:
The CO2 impact from producing and disposing packing material is a threat to the environment. The increasing e-trade will result in greater amount of goods to be shipped to private households, which only emphasizes the need for a more sustainable packing solution. This invention enables corrugated boxes, to be collapsed in a way that ensures a minimized format, suitable for returning boxes in a sustainable, cost efficient and convenient may, simply by dropping it in the nearest mailbox. Thereby a sustainable and commercially feasible return process is made possible for boxes, which otherwise would be disposed after having been used for only one shipment. A unique folding technique allows the box to be made of similar materials as for boxes conventionally used for shipping goods to private households, and furthermore it minimizes the material used to form the box, resulting in a decreased weight and a more sustainable production.

Description
Conventional corrugated boxes used for packing are made to collapse in a way most suitable for stacking on pallets in large quantities. Boxes stacked on pallets are a suitable way of transporting empty boxes in large quantiles by truck from the manufacture to the shop. When the box reaches the shop it is folded out to contain goods to be shipped. Boxes are then shipped to single households, where there is no logistical setup for returning boxes individually in an efficient way. Therefore boxes are often disposed after having been used for only one shipment.
The C02 impact from producing and disposing packing materia! is a threat to the environment and the growing e-trade only increases the need for shipping goods to private households, which emphasizes the need for a more sustainable packing.
The challenge is that for conventional corrugated boxes, the collapsed form is not suitable for boxes to be shipped individually from private households, in business to business transactions there are various forms of reusable packing circulating, but none of which are suitable for the logistical challenge of shipping boxes individually out of private households. The material and folding principal of known reusable packing results in a collapsed format that is too large or heavy for an efficient individual return process. The weight results in expensive return shipping, and the format is not suitable for individual handling as for norma! shipping processes.
The invention Is a lightweight box. which can be used for shipping goods, and subsequently collapsed to a format, that enables the box to be returned for reuse in a sustainable, cost efficient and convenient way, by simply dropping it in a regular mailbox.
The collapsed format is easily secured and therefore the box can be handled as a standard package also in it collapsed format. Thereby a sustainable and commercially feasible return process is made possible for boxes, which otherwise would be disposed after having been used for only one shipment.
The folding technique allows the box to be made of similar materials as for boxes conventionally used for shipping goods to private households. Materials such as cardboard and piastic made of single sheets or in a corrugated construction, are preferred for packing due to its high strength and weight relation.
The concept enables boxes made of conventional materials, to be collapsed in a way that ensures a minimized format, suitable for returning boxes in a sustainable, cost efficient and convenient way, simply by dropping it in the nearest mailbox. Furthermore the design enables a minimum of material used to form the box, resulting in a minimized weight and a more sustainable production.
Figure 1 and figure 2 presents two folding principals, which enables a box to take a collapsed form suitable for fitting it into a slot of a standard mailbox and from there handled as an individual package. Figure 1 shows a folding technique optimized for allowing the greatest volume for a box, to collapse in format suitable for a standard mailbox. Figure 2 shows a folding technique optimized for allowing the greatest panel thickness for a box, to collapse in format suitable for a standard mail box.
The patented scope of this invention is defined by the claims, and may include other examples that occur to those skilled in the art. Such other examples are intended to be within the scope of the claims if they have structural elements that do not differ from the literal language of the claims, or if they include equivalent structural elements with insubstantial differences from the literal language of the claim.

Claims (2)
[1] Claim
1. A container comprising a box, the box comprising a bottom panel having a front edge, a rear edge, a right edge, and a left edge. A first pair of opposed walls extending from the right edge and left edge of the bottom panel is made to collapse down to the bottom panel, while the connected second pair ot opposed wails collapses on top of the first pair of opposed walls. Secondly the bottom pane! is folded on its centerline parallel with the front edge and the rear edge. Finally a panel, comprising the top pane! of the box in the out folded position and extending from one of the second pair of opposed walls, is wrapped around the box securing stability of the collapsed format.
[2] 2. A container comprising a box, the box comprising a bottom pane! having a front edge, a rear edge, a right edge, and a left edge. A first pair of opposed walls extending from the right edge and left edge of the bottom panel is made to collapse down to the bottom panel, while the connected second pair of opposed wails collapses on top of the first pair of opposed walls. Finally a panel, comprising the top panel of the box in the out folded position and extending from one of the second pair of opposed wails, is wrapped around the box securing stability of the collapsed format.
