FIELD OF APPLICATION FOR THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates to a method for the manufacture of a plastic product, such as a construction element for a toy construction set and a plastic product manufactured by the method, the plastic product of which comprises a first and a second component that are completely or partially manufactured from molding plastics and that the first component is manufactured by molding in the mold, such as injection molding, and that the second component is produced by a process in which it is constructed in a layer-by-layer model, such as a 3D print and which has a mounting surface and on which the first component and the second component are permanently joined to form the plastic product, the first component being readily molded and ejected of the mold before being joined to the second component.
[0002] "Permanent join" means any join made in a way that it is not intended that the first and second components separate from each other, after being permanently joined. Examples of permanent bonding of the plastic product include: gluing, brazing or welding. TECHNICAL STATUS
[0003] Currently, many modalities of production of plastic products are known for products that are built in a layer by layer model, for example, for the repeated solidification of a thin liquid layer on a substrate and a previously solidified liquid layer, for printing repeated with a thermoplastic plastic material on a substrate or on a previously printed layer of plastic material, or by repeated welding on a layer by layer model of plastic material, for example, by the use of laser. A common designation for these processes is "rapid prototyping", as these processes are extremely suitable for the production of a single product or relatively small numbers of identical products.
[0004] In addition, the development of devices, in particular, associated with software for 3D printing has become possible for home use and for others to print various products fully according to the design of each one.
[0005] The patent WO 2010071445 teaches a method for the manufacture of a plastic product through which a layered component is first manufactured, for example, by 3D printing and in which the first component is subsequently located in a molding tool that it has a mold cavity capable of receiving the first component in layers and, in addition, space for plastics to be introduced that will, in this way, be joined to the surface of the 3D printed component.
[0006] For this reason, for example, 3D printing of a product part is allowed, after which the component can participate as a core constituent in the finished product, and it is possible to subsequently mold, in the tool molding, for example, by injection molding, a surface on the 3D printed product that has a surface that is smoother than the surface of the 3D printed product.
[0007] US patent 7,110,562 B1 teaches a hearing device and a method of manufacturing the hearing device, in which the outermost component of the hearing device part that is fitted inside the ear is, based on a scan, individually adjusted for the customer and manufactured using a type of rapid prototyping, for example, SLA; where a wire and a speaker are injection molded together into another component. The injection molded component, including the speaker and the wire, is inserted into the outermost component and is interconnected to it via a connection module.
[0008] Through this, it is possible to adapt the shape of this part of the hearing device that is fitted inside the ear to the user individually, so that the effect is as invisible as possible and making it easier to replace defective parts, if any. In addition, it is not as expensive and time-consuming to manufacture a new external part of the hearing device in case the adjustment is not the most appropriate.
[0009] US patent 5,939,008 teaches a rapid prototyping apparatus and its method of producing three-dimensional objects, in which the three-dimensional object is produced by sequentially depositing a multilayer material on a flexible sheet substrate which is then finished, removed from the object. The sheet substrate can be a polymer, for example, an acrylic.
[00010] Thereby, a substrate is made for the printing of three-dimensional objects that does not alter or otherwise damage the object, in this case, after printing the object, the substrate is easily removed from the object. OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
[00011] Based on that, it is the object of the present invention to provide a method as presented above, through which it is possible to produce a product in which one part of the product is produced with very few tolerances, but in which the other part can be produced with a high degree of freedom to design the product according to individual wishes.
[00012] This is done according to the invention in which the first layer of the material formed in the 3D printing process of manufacturing the second component is formed on a surface that has the same shape as the mounting surface of the first component.
[00013] According to a preferred embodiment, the mounting surface of the first component will be contiguous with a correspondingly configured mounting surface of the second component when the second component is manufactured and joined to the first component.
[00014] The second component can optionally be manufactured as a separate element in relation to the first component, which is subsequently joined to the first component through gluing, brazing, welding or other joining method.
[00015] Alternatively, the first component can be manufactured first, after that, the second component is manufactured by 3D printing directly on the mounting surface of the first readily welded component.
[00016] By a preferred embodiment of the invention, one or more additionally molded component (s) is / are produced in addition to the first component; and wherein the second component is subsequently joined to more of the first and the additional components.
[00017] In this context, the molded components are, during union with the second component, advantageously arranged in an accessory that is configured, so that the first and the additional components are retained in a specific position in relation to each other. In addition, the accessory can be configured so that it ensures that the surface of the block is positioned precisely in relation to the print on the top, and so that an individual controls, thereby, the orientation of the block in relation to the adjustment of the print. to the starting point in the x and y directions.
[00018] The invention additionally relates to a plastic product comprising a first component and a second component that have a mounting surface and in which the two components are attached to each other, such that the mounting surfaces on the first and in the second, they are united and in contiguity with each other; and wherein the first component is molded and the second component is constructed in a layer-by-layer model from a plastic material, such as by 3D printing; and where the product is manufactured by the method stated above.
[00019] In this context, the mounting surface of the first component can be configured on a plate-shaped part of the first component and from the plate-shaped part, on the opposite side of the mounting surface, one or more flanges can be extend at an angle to the plate-shaped part.
[00020] It is particularly easy to join the two components together if the plate-shaped part, where the mounting surface extends, is essentially flat.
[00021] Furthermore, one or more of the flanges can be advantageously configured as an uninterrupted surrounding flange.
[00022] Particularly, advantageously, the plate-shaped part has an external periphery and one of the surrounding flanges extends from the external perimeter on the plate-shaped part.
[00023] According to an additional advantageous embodiment, one or more of the flanges essentially extend at right angles to the plate-shaped part.
[00024] The present invention is particularly suitable in the context of toy building sets comprising a plastic product as set out above, wherein the first component constitutes a building element of the toy building set comprising several building elements; and wherein the building elements comprise building elements having a body part with a surface on which several coupling pins are provided, and building elements which are, on the opposite side, configured with several flanges extending from the side of the body part that is opposite the surface; and in which these flanges are configured, so that they form coupling flanges that can be interconnected to the coupling pins in another construction element; and wherein the surface of the body part on the first component comprises the mounting surface for permanent bonding with the second component. LIST OF FIGURES
[00025] Figure 1 shows, in a perspective view, a joined plastic product according to the invention;
[00026] Figure 2 shows, in perspective view, a first piece of the plastic product shown in Figure 1;
[00027] Figure 3 shows, in perspective view, a second piece of the plastic product shown in Figure 1;
[00028] Figure 4 shows, in a perspective view, an alternative embodiment of a plastic product joined according to an invention, shown arranged in an accessory;
[00029] Figure 5 shows, in perspective view, a construction element of the plastic product shown in Figure 4, seen from one side;
[00030] Figure 6 shows, in perspective view, an element of construction of the component shown in Figure 5, seen from below. MODE OF THE INVENTION
[00031] Thus, Figure 1 shows a plastic product in the form of a rear wing 1 that can, for example, be mounted on a model vehicle (not shown) constructed of construction elements from a construction set of toys, and the rear wing 1 comprises a first component in the form of a building plate, 2 in which a second component 3 is provided which is manufactured by a method in which it is constructed in a layer-by-layer model, such as by 3D printing.
[00032] Figures 2 and 3 show the same components as shown in Figure 1, but in an unmounted state and will appear from Figure 2, such that construction plate 2 has a flat surface 7 on which several pins coupling devices 5 are configured which are, in a known manner, configured in such a way that they can be interconnected with other elements (not shown) of the toy construction set. For example, the building element 4 shown in Figures 5 and 6 can be interconnected with the building plate 2 by pressing the bottom part of the building element 4 down on the coupling pins 5 on the building plate 2, for the effect that the sides of the coupling pins are in contiguity on the inner side of the surrounding flange 8 configured along the construction element 4.
[00033] However, according to the invention, it is an option to mount the second component 3, in which the rear airfoil mounted 1, as shown in Figure 1, resembles a real rear airfoil to a much higher degree than that which could be obtained exclusively by means of box-shaped construction elements using the construction plate 2 and the two construction elements 4, as shown in Figure 2. Through this, individually designed pieces are allowed to be printed, that is, "customized", and that a more realistic and organic appearance can be obtained in toy construction sets by using the invention.
[00034] According to the invention, construction plate 2 is first manufactured by means of a generally known modeling process, such as by injection molding, in which a suitable amount of fluid plastic material is injected into a cavity of substantially closed mold on a molding tool. Such molding processes are generally known to the person skilled in the art and these are not shown in this document.
[00035] In addition, the second component 3, which is shown in Figure 3, is manufactured in a generally known process, whereby the component is constructed in a layer-by-layer model from plastics. Currently, numerous modalities of such production processes for the manufacture of plastic products are known, through which the products are built layer by layer, for example, by the repeated solidification of a thin liquid layer on a substrate and on a previously liquid layer. solidified or by repeated printing with a thermoplastic plastic material on a substrate or on a previously printed layer of plastic material. A common designation for these processes is "rapid prototyping" and such processes are extremely suitable for the production of a single product or relatively small numbers of identical products.
[00036] Below the building plate 2, two building elements 4 are assembled, which are of the type shown in Figures 5 and 6, and which can constitute a part of the toy building set or a part of the building plate 2 .
[00037] Figure 4 shows an alternative embodiment of the invention, where two construction elements 4 are used, as shown in Figures 5 and 6, as the first component and in which the two construction elements 4 are arranged in an accessory 10 that it retains them in a position in relation to each other by means of several guide pins 12 and several platforms 11 that are configured in the accessory 10.
[00038] The plastic product 1 shown in Figure 4 is then made up of two building elements 4 which constitute a first component 4 and an additional component 4, both are produced in a mold, and the second component 3 corresponding to the revelations of Figure 3, but is printed in 3D, layer by layer on top of the surface 9 of the first component 4 and the additional component 4. Since 3D printing without substrate is difficult, accessory 10 is configured, so that three platforms 11 each have a surface that is flush with the surface 9 of the two building elements 4.
