专利说明:

[0001] The present invention relates to a smoking article comprising a fragile capsule containing visible liquid, a mouthpiece for such smoking article and a method for producing such a smoking article.
[0002] Some smoking articles, such as filter cigarettes, typically comprise a cylindrical tobacco-cut filling rod surrounded by a paper wrapper and a cylindrical filter axially aligned in an end-to-end containment relationship with the rolled tobacco stick. Conventionally, the end of the rolled tobacco rod and the filter are joined by a filter lining paper, typically formed from a strip of paper material that circumscribes the entire length of the filter and an adjacent portion of the rolled tobacco rod.
[0003] Several smoking articles in which tobacco is heated instead of burned have also been proposed in the art. In heated tobacco articles, an aerosol is generated by heating a flavor-generating substrate, such as tobacco. Known heated smoking articles include, for example, electrically heated smoking articles and smoking articles in which an aerosol is generated by transferring heat from a flammable heat source to a physically separate aerosol forming material. During smoking, volatile compounds are released from the aerosol-forming substrate by transferring heat from the heat source and entrained in the air drawn through the smoke article. Once the released compounds cool, they condense to form an aerosol that is inhaled by the consumer.
[0004] EP-A-1895863 describes a cigarette, wherein the capsule is provided between a first absorbent member and a second absorbent member of a filter element. The capsule is adapted to release at least a portion of a fluid when the capsule is subjected to external force, such as compression, by the consumer.
[0005] Additionally, smoking articles with transparent sections, such that at least part of the smoking article is visible through the wrap, are known in the art. For example, WO-A-2009/147122 describes a smoke article with a filter liner material attached to the filter portion of the smoke article, the filter liner material comprising at least one transparent section through the which a filter segment is at least partially visible. The filter segment may comprise a flavor-releasing segment which may be a cavity filled with at least one of plant leaves, tobacco microspheres, flavor-laden cellulose microspheres, one or more capsules containing flavor or flavored threads. A view in the flavor release segment is enabled by the transparent section. When the cavity is filled with flavor-laden microspheres, they are porous and allow for the gradual release of flavor without requiring the consumer to crush or break the microspheres. As such microspheres are suitable for continuous flavor release rather than providing a burst of flavor, the smoke article does not allow a consumer to choose when to activate or release the flavor.
[0006] CN 201 667 985 U describes a filter stick with visible perfume microspheres, in which the cavity is formed between sections of burlap and one or more of the perfume microspheres are arranged in the cavity. Perfume microspheres contain perfume liquid and can optionally be broken by a consumer to emit fragrance. The filter stick further comprises transparent molding paper and filter lining paper with a transparent section or transparent filter lining paper. However, it is difficult to ensure that the perfume liquid remains substantially in the cavity.
[0007] Thus, it is a preferential objective to address these issues.
[0008] It is also a preferential objective of the invention to provide a smokable article that allows to view the presence and operation of a breakable capsule in the smoking article in an intuitive way.
[0009] Breakable capsules are known to deliver an explosion of flavor when broken. However, it is an issue that the flavor, typically a liquid, can travel through the smokable article, such as by capillary action, when the capsule is broken.
[00010] Thus, it is yet another preferential objective to reduce or prevent the liquid released from a breakable article from reaching the consumer's mouth or hands.
[00011] Consequently, the invention provides a smoking article comprising a smokable material and a mouthpiece in axial alignment with the smokable material, the mouthpiece comprising at least three segments, one segment defining a cavity disposed between two other segments, the cavity that includes a breakable capsule containing fluid and a first wrap that circumscribes the mouthpiece, wherein the wrap comprises a substantially smooth transparent section that overlaps at least part of the cavity, such that the capsule is at least partially visible through of the wrap, in which the first wrap has one or more layers of transparent enamel applied to it.
[00012] This provides the benefit of the consumer being able to see the capsule and therefore know how to operate the capsule. In particular, as the consumer can see the capsule before activating the release of fluid by breaking the capsule, this provides a quick and effective way to notify the consumer of the presence of the capsule in the smoking article. This also allows the consumer to confirm the capsule's intact character before rupture. Additionally, when a rupture must be caused by applying pressure against the capsule, this allows the consumer to apply pressure in exactly the right place to perform an efficient capsule rupture. The transparent enamel applied to the first wrap allows the first wrap, which can be transparent, to remain substantial or entirely impervious to fluids, particularly after the capsule is broken. In this way, the fluid released from the capsule does not travel through the first wrapper after being released from the capsule, in such a way that it can be prevented that the liquid reaches the consumer's mouth or hands.
[00013] The invention further provides a mouthpiece for a smoking article, the mouthpiece comprising at least two segments, a cavity that is disposed between two of the segments, the cavity that includes a breakable capsule containing fluid and a first wrap that circumscribes at least part of the mouthpiece, in which the wrap has one or more layers of transparent enamel applied to it and in which the wrap comprises a substantially smooth transparent section that overlaps at least part of the cavity, so that the capsule is least partially visible through the wrap.
[00014] The invention also provides a method for producing a smoke article comprising: providing a plurality of discrete filters comprising two or more filter segments, providing a substantially smooth sheet of transparent material, which has one or more layers of enamel transparent applied to it, place the discrete filters in axial alignment with a tobacco rod in such a way that at least two of the filter segments are placed in a separate arrangement to define a cavity section, place a breakable capsule containing fluid in the section cavity; and wrap the sheet of transparent material around at least a portion of the discrete filters, the cavity section and the tobacco stick, which form a smoking article.
[00015] The capsule can be adapted to release a fluid material, when the capsule is subjected to external force or pressure, such as compression, by the consumer. In particular, the capsule can release a liquid material. The capsule thus comprises a breakable wall. In some embodiments, several capsules can be supplied in one cavity, although it is preferred that a single capsule is located in the cavity.
[00016] The capsule may contain an additive, which modifies the smoke characteristics of the tobacco article. Such additives can comprise flavors, neutralizing agents, or other smoke modifiers, such as chemical reagents. In addition, additives can also include diluents, solvents or processing aids. In a preferred embodiment, the additive is one or more flavorings, such as a liquid flavor, flavor formulation or flavor-containing material. Suitable capsules as well as their manufacture are known in the art. An example of capsules that can be used in the present context is described in WO-A-2007/010407.
[00017] The transparent section of the first wrap is substantially smooth. By "substantially smooth" is meant that the transparent section does not have a design or image printed on its surface in such a way that the design or image is raised from the general surface. In particular, the surface of the transparent section of the filter element has only a normal surface roughness inherent in the respective material. This means that the transparent section in this modality is not raised. This provides an advantageous feature that the transparent section can be located not only visually, but also preferably by touch as the smooth section will typically have a different feel than the surrounding sections.
[00018] The term "transparent" is used to describe a material that allows at least a significant proportion of incident light to pass through, in such a way that it is possible to see through the material. In the present invention, the transparent section allows sufficient light to pass through it in such a way that the capsule is visible in the filter element. The transparent section can be completely transparent. Alternatively, the transparent section may have a lower level of transparency while still transmitting sufficient light such that the capsule is visible outside the filter element. Preferably, "transparent" denotes a total percentage light transmission of 40% or more, more preferably 50% or more, even more preferably 60% or more, more preferably 70% or more, as measured using a Hunterlab Colorquest spectrophotometer X AND.
[00019] In some cases, the substantially transparent section of the wrap may be dyed or colored, or it may have repeating patterns or other types of graphics applied to it as long as such patterns or graphics are not elevated from the general surface of the blade.
[00020] The first wrap is usually an inner wrap. In this way, the first substantially smooth wrap can form a circumferential wall for the cavity. The first wrapper can only be partially transparent, such as comprising transparent window portions, while otherwise it is partially printed or formed from an opaque material. In other embodiments, substantially the entire first wrap may be transparent. The thickness of the first wrap is preferably at least about 25 micrometers, more preferably between about 25 micrometers and about 45 micrometers. The base weight of the first wrap is preferably at least about 40 grams per square meter (gsm) and more particularly between about 40 gsm and about 65 gsm. In a particularly preferred aspect, the first wrap is a transparent film.
[00021] Preferably, the first wrap is substantially impermeable to air. It can be biodegradable. Examples of materials suitable for use as wrap materials include polymers and cellulose-based materials. The transparent cellulose film is preferred and cellophane is particularly preferred. That's because cellophane is biodegradable. Other biodegradable polymers may also be suitable. Polypropylene may be suitable as it is substantially impermeable to fluids.
[00022] The first wrap is covered with a transparent enamel. Throughout the specification, the term "enamel" is used to denote a liquid coating that solidifies after curing. Curing can be performed using any standard technique, although ultraviolet curing is preferred.
[00023] Enamels suitable for use in the present invention are known in the art and commercially available from, for example, Schmid Rhyner AG of Adliswil, Switzerland. An example of a particularly preferred enamel is a nitrocellulose synthesis. Such synthesis can improve the air tightness of the first wrap. The transparent enamel is preferably supplied on the inside of the first wrap. In particular, the transparent enamel can be applied by printing.
[00024] In one embodiment, multiple layers of transparent can be provided in the first wrap.
[00025] In yet another aspect, a second opaque wrapper comprising at least one opening can be provided around the first wrapper. The second or outer wrap can be formed using paper weighing from about 40 to about 60 gsm. At least one opening can be formed by a cut in the die. The, or each, opening forms a window, through which the capsule can be seen.
[00026] Alternatively, the outer wrap may comprise a transparent film, while the first wrap is preferably only at least partially formed from a transparent film.
[00027] An outer wrap made of a transparent film preferably has a weight of about 40 gsm to about 90 gsm.
[00028] In one embodiment, the at least one opening is a cutting opening in the die. This facilitates the production of an outer wrap, which can be cut in the die before being used in standard cigarette making equipment.
[00029] In another embodiment, the outer wrap can cover only part of the filter element, namely substantially the upstream segment. An additional outer casing can be provided, which covers the downstream segment, such that the cavity is not covered by the outer casings. In this case, the outer wraps can both be opaque.
[00030] As used herein, the terms "upstream" and "downstream" are used to describe the relative position of portions or components of mouthpieces and tobacco articles according to the invention in relation to the direction of main smoke drawn through the mouthpieces and smoking articles when using them. For example, in a mouthpiece where the cavity is upstream of a mouth end segment, the main smoke is drawn first through the cavity and then through the mouth end segment.
[00031] In one embodiment, the diameter of the capsule in relation to the diameter of the cavity is such that the capsule is substantially immobilized within the cavity. For example, the relative diameter of the capsule can be from about 88% to about 99% of the cavity diameter. This makes the capsule easy to locate and rupture while still allowing air to flow through the unbroken capsule. In another embodiment, the relative diameter of the capsule to the cavity is such that it is mobile within the cavity. For example, the capsule can be about 60 to about 87% of the cavity diameter. This improves the visibility of the capsule as a separate element and allows the capsule to move into the cavity to attract additional consumer attention. Additionally, the cavity that is more extensive than the capsule provides better visibility of fluid release when the capsule is opened. However, it is important that the capsule is not so small that it is quite difficult for a consumer to crush. For example, a capsule that has a relative diameter of about 30% or less compared to the diameter of the cavity is not preferred.
[00032] Preferably, the segments on both sides of the cavity are adapted in such a way that the main fraction of the capsule fluid remains in the cavity when the capsule is broken. However, the fluid can be absorbed slowly by the segments. However, immediately following the break of the capsule, the visibility of free fluid in the cavity is beneficial as it confirms activation of the fluid release to the consumer.
[00033] Preferably, the segments comprise at least one of the filter tow material or adsorbents such as, for example, carbon, carbon microspheres or a carbon structure, activated carbon, activated aluminum, zeolites, sepiolites, molecular sieves, and silica gel. The filter material in the filter segment is useful for removing particulate and gaseous components from the main smoke. A carbon structure is known in the art, for example, in the form of an extruded carbon honeycomb structure. Such a carbon structure is described, for example, in Patent Application JP-A 2001-120250. It is particularly preferred that the filter segments comprise cellulose acetate tow, which can be aligned or randomly oriented.
[00034] Fluid release from the ruptured capsule can travel slowly through the filter segment due to a capillary effect. However, the filter segments can become at least partially less fluid absorbent, for example, by coating or sealing, so that fluid movement through the filter segment is slowed. This has the advantage of making the fluid visible in the cavity for a longer period.
[00035] Preferably, the fluid in the capsule is colored. In this way, the visibility of the fluid release is improved.
[00036] Additionally or alternatively, the capsule can be colored. In particular, the capsule walls can be colored. In this way, the visibility of the capsule in the cavity is improved. In addition, if the fluid and the capsule are supplied in different colors, the visibility of the fluid release can be further improved.
[00037] The color of the capsule or the fluid contained in the capsule is preferably different from the color of the remaining filter element.
[00038] Preferably, the cavity is disposed between a filter mouth end segment and a rod end filter segment, wherein the filter mouth end segment is longer than the filter end filter segment. stick. This has the advantage of preventing fluid from the open capsule from reaching the consumer's mouth through a capillary effect. Preferably, the filter segments are segments that comprise a filter tow. The rod end filter segment can preferably be up to about 12 mm long. The cavity preferably has a length of up to about 7 mm. The filter mouth end segment may preferably be at least 15 mm long. The capsule preferably has a spherical or ellipsoidal shape with a diameter of about 4.5 mm. In some embodiments, perforations can be provided in the rod end filter segment, which allows for a dilution of the smoke with air in the rod end filter segment.
[00039] The filter can also comprise more than two filter segments wound in and connected by the first wrap. For example, up to five segments can be present. The different segments can comprise filter materials, flavors, plant materials, plants or spices. Some or all of these segments can be at least partially visible through transparent sections of the filter element.
[00040] Preferably, the smokable material comprises a tobacco rod.
[00041] Preferably, a wrap, namely the first wrap or the outer wrap, is at least partially wrapped around the mouthpiece and the tobacco rod, to connect the mouthpiece and the tobacco rod.
[00042] Thus, the invention still relates to a smoking article according to the present invention, in which an outer wrap is at least partially wrapped around a mouthpiece in the form of the filter element and a tobacco rod, to connect the filter element and the tobacco rod. The outer shell can circumscribe the filter element along the entire length of the filter element.
[00043] Tobacco articles according to the present invention can be filter cigarettes or other tobacco articles in which smokable material, in particular tobacco material, or other flammable material is burned to form smoke. Alternatively, smoking articles according to the invention can be articles in which the material is heated to form an aerosol, rather than burned. In a type of heated smoke article, the tobacco material or other aerosol-generating material is heated by one or more electrical heating elements to produce an aerosol. In another type of heated smoke article, an aerosol is produced by transferring heat from a fuel or chemical heat source to a physically separated aerosol-forming material, which can be located inside, around, or downstream of the heat source .
[00044] The capsule is visible through at least one opening. Alternatively, several openings can be provided around the circumference of the outer envelope in the region of the cavity.
[00045] Filters comprising a cavity are used in the smoke article according to the invention are produced using a known machinery to produce charcoal filters, such as those described in EP-A-1, 571,933. Such machinery is commercially available, for example, from Filtrona International Ltd., Great Britain.
[00046] Preferably, the overall length of the smoking articles according to the present invention is between about 70 mm and about 128 mm, more preferably about 84 mm.
[00047] Preferably, the outside diameter of filters and smoke articles according to the present invention is between about 3 mm and 8.5 mm, more preferably about 7.9 mm.
[00048] Preferably, the general length of filters according to the present invention is between about 18 mm and about 36 mm, more preferably about 27 mm.
[00049] Preferably, the length of each individual segment of filters according to the present invention is between about 5 mm and about 22 mm.
[00050] In tobacco articles according to the invention, the mouth end segment of the filter may comprise a hollow tube or recess. The tube or hollow recess can be formed when the filter is joined to a rod of smokable material, for example, by filter lining paper to form a smoke article according to the present invention. Preferably, the recess further comprises a cylindrical element that adds structural strength to the tube, for example, a paper or cardboard tube that is wrapped by the filter liner material. Recessed filters are well known in the art, for example in WO-A-2004/089124.
[00051] In smoke articles according to the invention, the filter may comprise a restricting segment. A restrictive segment affects the pull resistance and other fluid dynamics of the smoke article and also affects the formation of carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide. Smoke restrictors are known in the art, for example, from International Patent Application W0-A2- 2008/059377.
[00052] The filters according to the present invention can be produced by forming separate continuous rods that comprise multiple units of each individual filter segment. Then, these separate rods are combined in a known manner in one or more stages to form a continuous filter rod comprising multiple filter units. The continuous filter rod can then subsequently be separated at regular intervals by a cutting mechanism to produce a succession of discrete filters according to the invention.
[00053] Preferably, the tobacco articles according to the present invention comprise a rolled tobacco cut filler stick. Preferably, the tobacco articles according to the present invention have a dry particulate matter totally free of nicotine (NFDPM) or "tar" transmission of up to and about 10 mg. More preferably, the "tar shipment" is between 1 mg and 10 mg and more preferably about 6 mg.
[00054] Tobacco articles according to the present invention can be packaged in containers, for example, in flat packs or hinged lid packs, with an inner liner coated with one or more flavorings.
[00055] The invention will now be further described with reference to exemplary modalities as shown in the following figures:
[00056] Figure 1 shows a cross-sectional view of a filter element according to an embodiment of the invention.
[00057] Figure 2 shows a cross-sectional view of a filter element according to another embodiment of the invention.
[00058] Figure 3 shows a cross-sectional view of a smoking article according to an embodiment of the invention.
[00059] Figure 4 shows a cross-sectional view of a smoking article according to another embodiment of the invention.
[00060] Figure 5 shows a side perspective view of a smoking article according to an embodiment of the invention.
[00061] Figure 1 shows a mouthpiece in the form of a filter element 1 for a smoking article according to a first embodiment of the invention. The filter element 1 has a substantially cylindrical shape. In particular, it comprises a filter mouth end segment 2 and, spaced from the filter mouth end segment, a rod end filter segment 3. By "spaced", it is understood that the segments are not in one adjacent or containment relationship. Both the filter mouth end segment 2 and the rod end filter segment 3 are substantially cylindrical in shape. Preferably, the filter segments 2, 3 are formed of cellulose acetate, such that they are able to filter the smoke or the aerosol provided by the smoke article comprising the filter element 1.
[00062] A first wrapper 4, in particular an inner wrapper in the form of a paper filter, is wrapped around and connects both filter segments 2, 3. The first wrapper 4 is a waterproof and transparent film, in particular made cellophane. The first wrap preferably preferably completely circumscribes the filter mouth end segment 2 and the rod end filter segment 3.
[00063] The filter mouth end segment 2 and the rod end filter segment 3 are spaced apart and a cavity 5 is provided between them. In particular, the first wrap 4 forms the outer circumferential wall of the cavity 5, while the filter mouth end segment 2 and the rod end filter segment 3 form the border of the cavity 5 in the longitudinal direction 100 of the filter element. 1. The longitudinal direction 100 corresponds to the axial direction of the cylindrical filter element.
[00064] The first wrap 4 is preferably substantially impermeable to fluids. The waterproofing is improved in particular by providing a transparent enamel in the form of nitrocellulose synthesis on the inner side of the first wrapper 4.
[00065] Within the cavity 5 is a capsule 6, wherein the capsule 6 includes a fluid. In particular, capsule 6 is a breakable capsule, which releases fluid when subjected to sufficient pressure to cause it to rupture. Other mechanisms for rupture of the capsule can be provided, such as rupture when the capsule 6 is subjected to smoke or heat, but pressure is more preferable.
[00066] In the modality presently exemplified, the fluid is released from the capsule 6, when the consumer applies a pressure to the filter element 1 in the region of the cavity 5, in such a way that the first wrap 4 makes contact with the capsule 6 and pressure is applied to the capsule 6. In this way, the wall of the capsule 6 breaks in such a way that the fluid is released into the cavity 5 and since the first wrapper 4 is transparent, it can be visible from the outside. However, as the first wrapper 4 is substantially impermeable, the fluid material will remain substantially in the cavity 5 until it is evaporated or absorbed by either the filter mouth end segment 2, the rod end filter segment 3, or both . Preferably, the fluid contained in the capsule 6 is colored in such a way that the release of the fluid is visible. In particular, the fluid comprised in the cavity 5 may have a color that is different from the remaining filter element 1, to improve its visibility. More preferably, the color of the fluid can also be different from the outer wall of the capsule 6 that includes the fluid. The fluid can be formed from or comprise an additive or flavor. Additives can modify the smoke provided by the tobacco article, while flavorings can in particular modify the taste or flavor of the smoke from the tobacco article. In particular, the fluid in the capsule 6 can provide a minty flavor. In this way, at a desired time during the smoking of the tobacco article, the consumer can activate the additional minty flavor by pressing the filter element 1 with enough force to break the capsule wall, in such a way that the fluid is released and through evaporation of the fluid, the minty flavor will be sent through the filter mouth end segment along with the smoke. As the first wrapper 4 is transparent, the consumer can readily confirm the release of the fluid.
[00067] Figure 2 shows a second embodiment of a mouthpiece in the form of a filter element 1, which is substantially identical to the first embodiment of filter element 1 with a different first wrap 4. The first wrap 4 is generally opaque and only it comprises a transparent window 7 in the region of the cavity 5. In particular, the first wrap 4 can be a transparent film and the opacity is achieved by printing the wrap with an opaque ink in its entirety apart from the region of the window. In other embodiments, the window 7 can be created by treating a material otherwise opaque, such as thin paper, to make it transparent in the region of the window 7. In still other embodiments, the first wrapper 4 can be made of a opaque material with an opening formed therein, where the opening is superimposed or underlaid with a transparent material to form the window 7. The transparent material can in particular be fixed by means of adhesive to the material remaining from the first wrapper 4.
[00068] The transparent window 7 has a length in the longitudinal direction 100, which is substantially equal to or less than the distance between the filter segments 2, 3. Additionally, the window 7 can have a width, which is the same or less than the circumference of the first wrapper 4. In particular, several windows 7 can be provided in the circumferential or longitudinal direction of the first wrapper 4 in the region of the cavity 5.
[00069] In Figure 3, a first embodiment of a smoke article 8 according to the invention is shown in cross section. The smoke article 8 comprises the filter element 1 as described in relation to Figure 1 and a rod of smoke material 9, in axially aligned arrangement in the longitudinal direction 100. The rod end filter segment 3 confines the rod of the smoking material 9. An outer wrap 10 is wrapped around the filter element 1 and at least a portion of the smoking material stick 9, to connect the smoking material stick 9 and the filter element 1. The wrap outer 10 totally circumscribes at least a portion of the rod of smoke material 9 and the filter element 1. The outer casing 10 can be attached by means of adhesive to the rod of smoke material 9 and of the filter element 1.
[00070] The rod of tobacco material 9 is in particular a cylindrical rod of tobacco material which is comprised of a cigarette paper.
[00071] The outer wrap 10 is made of opaque material, such as standard filter lining paper. The outer wrap 10 comprises an opening 11 in the region of the cavity 5. Thus, since the first wrap 4 is transparent, the inside of the cavity 5, and therefore the capsule 6, is visible outside the smoke article 8 through the opening 11. The opening 11 forms a window in the outer casing 10. The window formed by the opening 11 has a particular length in the longitudinal direction, which is substantially equal to or less than the distance between the filter segments 2, 3. In addition, the window may have a width, which is the same or less than the circumference of the outer envelope 10. In particular, several windows may be provided in the circumferential or longitudinal direction of the outer envelope 10 in the region of the cavity 5.
[00072] Opening 11 is in particular a die-cut opening in the outer casing 10. However, in other embodiments, instead of opening 11, a transparent window can be provided in the outer casing 10. Additionally, several openings 11 in the outer casing 10 can be provided in the region of the cavity 5 of the filter element 1. In particular, a plurality of openings 11 can be arranged spaced apart from each other in the longitudinal direction or in the circumferential direction of the outer casing 10 in the region of the cavity 5.
[00073] In Figure 4, a second embodiment of a smoking article 8 with a filter element 1 according to Figure 2 is shown. In this embodiment, the outer casing 10 is made of a substantially transparent material, while the first casing 4 is only transparent in the window 7 in the region of the cavity 5. Thus, the cavity 5 and the capsule 6 will be visible through the window 7.
[00074] In a further embodiment of the present invention, the first wrap 4 and the outer wrap 10 can be fully transparent. In this way, the filter segments 2, 3 as well as the cavity 5 are visible from the outside. However, in other embodiments, it is preferable that only the cavity 5 is visible from the outside and in this way the transparent outer wrap can be partially printed.
[00075] In Figure 5, a smoke article 8 is shown, in which the entire cavity 5 is visible through a first transparent wrap 4. An outer wrap 10 is provided in the region of the rod end filter segment 3 and in a neighboring portion of the smoking material stick 9. An additional outer wrap 12 is provided in the region of the filter mouth end segment 2. The outer wrap 10, 12 are arranged in a spaced relationship such that the capsule 6 is visible from the outside of the smoke article 8. As long as the fluid contained in the capsule 6 is colored, the release of the fluid will be visible by the free colored fluid in the cavity 6.
[00076] Thus, in Figure 5, the opening 11 in the outer wrap 10, 12 extends entirely around the circumference of the outer wrap 10, 12 and the outer wrap 10, 12 is in fact formed by two separate outer wrap 10, 12 , in which one wrap 12 is mainly disposed around the filter mouth end segment 2, while the other outer wrap 10 is mainly disposed in the region of the rod end filter segment 3 and the neighboring end of the rod of filter material. smoke 9. The outer wrap 12 forms the circumferential outside of the mouth end of the filter element 1, while the other outer wrap 10 is provided to connect the filter element 1 and the rod of smoke material 9.
[00077] Thus, the opening 11 in the outer casing 10 can be provided in the entire region of the cavity 5, such that only the filter segments 2, 3 are covered by the outer casings 10, 12. Therefore, the cavity 5 and the capsule 6 in it are fully visible from the outside.
[00078] Furthermore, in some embodiments, the outer wrap 10 can only extend in the region of the rod end filter segment 3 and the smoke material rod 9, and no outer wrap is provided around the end segment of the rod. filter mouth 2. Then, the first wrap 4 forms the circumferential outside of the mouth end of the smoking article 8.
