[0015] Figure 1 shows an apparatus for feeding sets of filter segments provided with a feeder tank 1 for the filter rods 2 mounted on a main plate 3. Below the feeder tank 1, there is a cutting drum 4 provided in the circumference a plurality of grooves 5 on which the filter rods 2 of the feed hopper 1 are placed and on which said rods are transported. The filter rods 2 are transported transversely to their geometric axes, in the direction of rotation of the drum which is marked with an arrow and are cut into segments by circular knives 6 which are mounted on the knife axes 7 which are mounted in a housing 8 of a cutting head 9, while during the cutting operation the edges of the circular knives 6 are inserted in circumferential grooves formed on the drum 4. Depending on the number of filter segments in which the filter rods are cut, the cutting head 9 is equipped with one or more sets of circular knives 6 mounted on knife axes 7. In the following parts, knife axis 7 with knives 6, spacer sleeves, spacers, bearings and other elements mentioned below will be referred to as a unit of a knife shaft 10 or a knife unit 10. A set of filter segments 11 formed by cutting a filter rod 2 is generally arranged in the lowest position of the groove 5. An opening 12 formed in housing 8, it is used to position the head 9. The unit 10 is arranged in the housing 8 in the positioning positions 20 and 21, where the sleeve 16 provided with a bearing is pressed into a hole 21, and a flange 17 of said sleeve is located on a surface 22, while the bearing 18 is pressed into a hole 20. For the sake of simplicity, the connection elements that secure the sleeve 16 to the housing 8 have been omitted from the drawing. An end piece 19 is mounted on the knife axis 7, by means of said end piece the axis 7 with the knives 6 can be rotated manually. [0016] In the holes 21, conduction channels 25 are formed which facilitate the removal of the knife units 10. Figure 3 shows a view of a cutting head 9 with three units 10, while the central unit 10 is axially removed from its functional position and can be removed from the casing 8 independently of the other units 10 in a direction mainly perpendicular to the geometric axis of rotation of the axis 7 through the conduction channel 25, the width of which is greater than the diameter of the axis 7. An axial displacement of each of the central units 10 independently of other units is possible since the outer edges of the knives 6, in the view perpendicular to the plane of the knives 6, do not overlap. [0017] The shaving head housing 8 is provided with two surfaces 22 and 23 which are parallel to each other. A reference surface 23 is arranged to rest against the main plate 3, making it possible to position the housing 8 in relation to the main plate 3. A surface 22 opposite the surface 23 is a reference surface for positioning the knife units 10. Additionally, the knives 7 are arranged precisely by means of distance gloves in relation to the flange 18 which is located on the surface 22. As can be seen from the description, the construction of the cutting head makes it possible to easily replace damaged or worn knives and ensuring that the exact position of the knives 7 is maintained in relation to the plate 3 to which the cutting drum is positioned. In the case where one of the knives is damaged, the cutting head 9 is unscrewed from the support plate 3 or other support elements. The head 9 must be deflected from the cutting drum, and then pressed along the mandrel 13. After pushing the knife unit 10 out, the damaged or worn knives 6 are replaced while the position of the spacers and spacers and maintained, and its position relative to the flange 17 of sleeve 16 is checked. A unit 10 with replaced knives is pressed across the geometric axis of the unit into the cutting head housing, and then along the geometric axis and is secured using connecting elements. In the drawing, only a boundary shape of the housing 8 of the cutting head 9 is shown in lines dotted, while the enclosure is supported against the reference surface 28. A change of position of the drive device 30 is effected by means of positioning the device in the form of a manually operated control rod 38. In order to couple the axes with knife 7 from head 9, the operator moves the drive device 30, in the direction shown by the arrow, with the use of the control rod 38 until the moment when the control element coupling 40 mounted on the shaft 35A make contact with the respective coupling element 41 mounted on the knife shaft 7. At this point, the shaft 7 and the element 41 must be manually rotated by means of the end piece 19 in order to adjust the angular position of the coupling element 41 to the element 40 in order to allow the elements 40 and 41, therefore, the axis 35A and the axis 7, to engage. The elements 40 and 41 can be elements of any known release coupling. After the axis 35A has been engaged with the axis 7, the operator moves the drive device by means of the control rod 38 until the moment when the coupling element 40 mounted on the axis 35B comes into contact with the respective coupling element 41 mounted on the respective knife axis 7. Similar to the axis 35A, the axis 7 corresponding to the axis 35B must be rotated in order to allow them to engage. In the case of the 35C axis, the procedure is similar to that for the 35A and 35B axes. Figure 5 shows the position of the apparatus 30 after all the knife axes 7 have been coupled to the transmission axes 35A, 35B and 35C. At this time, the axis 7 must be manually rotated by means of the end piece 19 in order to adjust the angular position of the coupling element 41 to the element 40 in order to allow the elements 40 and 41, and, therefore, the axis 35 and the axis 7A, engage. After the axis 35 has been engaged with the axis 7A, the pneumatic actuator 43 moves the drive unit until the moment when the coupling element 40 mounted on the axis 35 contacts the corresponding coupling element 41 mounted on the knife axis 7B. Similar to axis 7A, axis 7B must be rotated to allow axis 35 and axis 7B to engage. In the case of axis 7C, the procedure is similar to that of axes 7A and 7B.
