(54) Title: PROCEDURE FOR SEMIPERMANENT STRAIGHTENING OF CURLED, CURL OR CURLED HAIR. (51) lnt.CI .: A61K 8/36; A61Q 5/06 (52) CPC: A61K 8/36, A61Q 5/06 (30) Unionist Priority: 24/02/2010 IT MC2010A000028 (73) Holder (s): KAO CORPORATION (72) Inventor (s): ALDERANO MANNOZZI 1/17 “PROCEDURE FOR SEMIPERMANENT STRAIGHTENING OF CURL, HAIR OR CURLED HAIR” DESCRIPTION: [001] The present application for an industrial invention patent refers to a process for semi-permanent straightening of curly, curly or wavy hair. 1. Glyoxylic Acid - is an alpha-keto acid that can be found in crystalline monohydrate form (CAS No. 563-96-2) or in aqueous solution (CAS No. 298-12-4). Main synonyms: Formylphoric acid. Alpha-ketoacetic acid. Glyoxalic acid, oxalaldehyde acid, oxoacetic acid. Oxoetanoic acid and others. Its use in the cosmetic sector is considered safe and allowed without any restrictions with indication of the pH buffering agent function. 2. Alpha-keto acids - alpha-keto acids are acids with a carbonyl group in the alpha position with respect to the carbon atom of the carboxylic group. 3. Semi-permanent: treatment of curly or curly hair to straighten it, with permanence in a condition for a number of washes greater than 5. 4. Hair straightener: Electric heating device used in combination with a combination of heat and pressure to straighten the hair, generally consisting of two flat heating elements, covered with various materials, between which a part of the hair is pressed. hair at a time. Hair straighteners are usually found on the market. 5. Hair dryer - Device for drying hair with heating resistance and fan. - Buffering agents - substances dissolved in water to avoid changing the pH of the solution for moderate additions of acids or bases (buffering). [002] Human hair is divided into two types: - a first type of hair, called Afro hair (hair with a diameter of 70-100 microns), which is generally dark in color, characterized by being more or less curly according to the amount of disulfide groups between the keratin amino acid chains (basic protein of human hair). - a second type of hair, the so-called Caucasian hair (hair with a smaller diameter than Afro hair) is dark or light in color, characterized by the fact that it is less curly than Afro hair due to the lower amount of disulfide bridges in its keratin structure. [003] Three types of technique are currently employed for straightening curly or curly hair: The. treatment with electric plates basically composed of two plates which are in the 870170064872, of 09/01/2017, p. 12/30 2/17 hairs (with temperature greater than 100 ° C) between which the hair is placed and pressed to obtain the desired style. The result disappears after the first wash with water and shampoo. B. Chemical and mechanical treatment at low temperature: chemical substances are applied to the hair, which is treated at temperatures below 100 ° C to induce temporary changes in the aspect of the hair fiber that disappear after washing the hair with water and shampoo. ç. High temperature chemical and mechanical treatment: chemical substances are applied to the hair, which is treated at temperatures greater than 100 ° C (same technique as a), to induce temporary changes in the aspect of the hair fiber that disappear after washing the hair with water and shampoo. [004] Currently, the problem is that, although chemicals capable of straightening curly, curly or wavy human hair are known in the market, these substances are harmed by high toxicity to human beings and high aggressiveness to hair (that is, formaldehyde, sodium hydroxide, sulfur compounds, etc.). [005] In addition, it must be explained that these processes with chemical substances do not guarantee that the treated hair will remain smooth for a long time after straightening; [006] The purpose of the present invention is to develop a new chemomechanical process (similar to that illustrated in c) to straighten hair in a semi-permanent way (once treated, the hair will remain smooth after a series of washes in greater than 5). The innovation consists in the identification of a group of chemical substances that, when combined with a mechanical treatment at high temperature, different from the state of the art, will allow to obtain a smooth, soft, shiny and volumeless hair, of a hair originally curly and curly, these characteristics are still maintained, after repeated washing with water and shampoo. [007] Another purpose of the invention is to develop a process with the above characteristics, which uses buffering agents in very low percentages, and, in any case, less than the values used in the known processes, thus reducing the stress of the treated hair. [008] These purposes are achieved according to the invention, having the characteristics listed in the attached independent claim 1. [009] The advantageous achievements can be evidenced from the dependent claims. [0010] The process of the invention obtains the combined action of the mechanical press with Petition 870170064872, of 9/1/2017, p. 13/30 3/17 hot plates at a temperature of approximately 200 ° C (± 50 ° C) with preventive treatment of the hair with a solution containing a buffering agent. [0011] More precisely, the process provides: a) application to the hair, of a solution containing a buffer acid agent of the alpha-keto acid family; b) permanence of said substance in contact with the hair for 15 to 120 minutes; c) drying the hair; d) hair straightening with hair straightening board at temperatures of approximately 200 ± 50 ° C. [0012] Particularly, the process of the invention proved the induction of semipermanent changes in the capillary structure that will remain the same, after repeated hair washes under normal conditions of use. [0013] Tests performed on chemical substances that are already used in the cosmetics sector and tests performed on hair resulted in the selection of some substances, which are already known due to their pH buffering properties, which, when used in combination with straightening mechanical, allow the semi-permanent elimination of the typical curves that characterize curly, curly or wavy hair. [0014] In particular, the reduction or elimination of curves in the hair is expressed as ease of combing the hair and less overall volume of the capillary fiber due to the elimination of said curves, (and hence a reduction in the volume occupied by the hair in space) . [0015] Table 1 contains a list of all buffer agents known today being included in the European Inventory of ingredients used in cosmetic products annexed to decision n ° 1996/335 / EC dated 05/08/1996, followed by whether corrections and integrations. [0016] The process according to the invention advantageously uses glyoxylic acid in aqueous solution, which has been shown to give appreciable results in comparison with other buffering agents that are part of the aforementioned list. [0017] In addition, the substances listed in Table 2 were tested, mixed with one of the buffering agents, which are given in the list attached to Decision No. 1996/335 / EC dated 05/08/1999 and the following corrections and integrations. [0018] Other features of the invention will become apparent from the detailed description below. [0019] Among the substances contained in the European list of ingredients used in cosmetic products having a buffering function that were tried in the process of the invention, glyoxylic acid conferred the best results. [0020] The tests consisted of dissolving 10 g of glyoxylic acid in 100 ml of Petition 870170064872, of 9/1/2017, p. 14/30 4/17 water. More precisely, with a weight ratio composed of between 5 and 25%. [0021] In particular, the hair was washed with a basic shampoo pH between 7.5 / 8.5, then the so-called glyoxylic acid solution was applied (the application can be done with a hard bristle brush, spray or any other way ). [0022] However, it should be noted that the said prewash with the basic pH shampoo did not prove to be fundamental for the semi-permanent straightening of the hair. [0023] The substance was placed in contact with the hair for 60 minutes (± 30 minutes) and the hair was then dried with the dryer. [0024] Once the hair was dry, it was straightened with a straightener heated to an average temperature of approximately 200 ° C ± 50 ° C. It should be noted that the materials of the plank boards do not affect the process of the invention. [0025] Finally, the hair was rinsed again with water or washed again with shampoo and dried. [0026] At the end of the treatment, the hair was shiny, smooth, without volume, soft to the touch and especially pleasant. [0027] The tests proved experimentally that the effectiveness of the treatment is maintained over time by at least six washes, rinses and dryings under normal conditions of using the hair shampoo (as confirmed by the values contained in the attached tables at the end of this description: Tables 1-A to 1-D). [0028] Additional tests were done by adding one of the substances listed in table 2 to the glyoxylic acid solution. [0029] Each substance was tested in a mixture with that solution of glyoxylic acid by adding 10 g of one of the substances listed in table 2 to 100 ml of said solution. [0030] The following describes a typical composition of said mixture: Example 1 water ............................................... ..... 100 milliliters glyoxylic acid .................................... 10 g potassium iodide ................................ 10 g Example 2 water ............................................... ....... 100 milliliters glyoxylic acid ....................................... dihydroxyacetone .................................... Example 3 water ............................................... ........ 10g 10g 100 milliliters glyoxylic acid ........................................ 10g Petition 870170064872, of 9/1/2017, p. 15/30 5/17 ozonized jojoba oil ........................ 10 g inert emulsifying agent (glycerol) ..... 10 g Example 4 water ............................................... ........ 100 milliliters glyoxylic acid ...................................... .. 10 g 1,4-hexanedienal .................................... 10 g [0031] In example 3, an emulsifying agent (glycerol), which is inert for straightening hair, was added to the solution in order to facilitate the dispersion of the ozonized jojoba oil in an aqueous solution. [0032] The mixture obtained in example 3 is an oily mixture due to the use of jojoba oil. [0033] Therefore, at the end of the treatment carried out with the mixtures illustrated in examples 1, 2, 3 and 4, the hair was shiny, smooth, without volume, soft to the touch and especially pleasant. In addition, hair straightening has been tested in terms of length of stay. [0034] Further tests were carried out to check whether the effect obtained with the aqueous solutions could be repeated, when these substances formed part of a commercial cosmetic formulation (ie, mixed with other substances that are normally used in the cosmetics sector). [0035] An additional test was carried out by adding glyoxylic acid (and its mixtures with potassium iodide, dihydroxyacetone, ozonized jojoba oil and 2,4-hexanedienal Illustrated in examples 1, 2, 3 and 4) with the treatment cosmetic of hair found in the market. [0036] In particular, a hair straightening test was performed using the formulation of a cosmetic product from INOAR Cosméticos Ltda., From São Paulo, Brazil, known as Moroccan hair treatment. The product was devoid of its active ingredient for hair straightening. [0037] 10 g of glyoxylic acid were added to 100 milliliters of said cosmetic and, after performing the same hair treatment operations illustrated on the previous pages, the results were identical to those achieved using the same percentage ratio of glyoxylic acid in water. [0038] At the end of the treatment, the hair was permanently shiny, smooth, without volume and soft to the touch, with an especially pleasant look. [0039] Similar results were obtained from four tests carried out with four mixtures identical to those of examples 1, 2, 3 and 4, using 100 milliliters of the cosmetic product instead of 100 milliliters of acidified water. Petition 870170064872, of 9/1/2017, p. 16/30 6/17 [0040] The hair was straight, without volume soft to the touch and especially shiny when exposed to sunlight or artificial light. [0041] Experimentally, it was confirmed that the best range is composed of between 5% and 25% of the substances listed in Table 2, so that the weight percentage of each one is included between 5% and 25%, totaling 100 compounds of inert substances with respect to hair straightening, curly, curly or wavy. [0042] It should be noted that, as demonstrated by the tests, the hair straightening effect, with a consequent reduction in volume, is not appreciated when the hair is heated to temperatures of approximately 50-60 ° C with a common dryer, while it is visible that, until the first rinse, and / or shampoo in the case of treatment for a few seconds at temperatures of approximately 200 ± 50 ° C. [0043] These tests also showed that the longer the contact time of the invention and its mixtures with the hair fiber, the greater the hair straightening effect.
