Description of Modalities
[00014] An embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to Figs. 1 to 9.
[00015] A cutting tool 30 illustrated in Figs. 1 to 3 includes a cutting tool body 31 and a cutting insert 10. In relation to this cutting tool 30, a workpiece positioned on a reference surface perpendicular to the central axis J of the cutting tool 30 is cut and machined by a cutting insert 10 by rotating the workpiece. However, a user can affix the cutting tool 30 to a central axis of the machine tool such as a machine center and by rotating it around a central axis J in order to machine the workpiece without rotating the workpiece. job.
[00016] In relation to the cutting tool body 31 of the cutting tool 30, the body of the cutting tool 31 is formed having a cylindrical shape and has a mounting seat 32 on the side of the distal end portion thereof and a surface reference plane 31f which is perpendicular to a reference surface perpendicular to the central axis J described above and which is parallel to the central axis J on the side of the base end portion. The cutting insert 10 is attached to the mounting seat 32. The cutting insert 10 is fixed to the body of the cutting tool 31 by a BT screw. A structure of the mounting seat 32 will be described later.
[00017] The cutting insert 10 is formed of a material such as, for example, cemented carbide. This cutting insert 10 is, as illustrated in Figs. 4 to 7, a plate-like member having an approximately square outer shape. This cutting insert 10 has a through hole 16 formed concentric to a central axis K to insert the screw BT through it and fix the cutting insert 10 to the body of the cutting tool 31.
[00018] On a top surface (first surface) of the cutting insert 10, a reference surface 10A formed from a plane perpendicular to the central axis K and an upper inclined face (first inclined face) 11A are formed. On a bottom surface (second surface) of the cutting insert 10, a reference surface 10fB formed from a plane perpendicular to the central axis K and a lower inclined face (second inclined face) 11B are formed.
[00019] On a lateral surface extending between the top surface and the bottom surface of the cutting insert 10, an upper flank (first flank 12A) intersecting with the upper sloping face 11A and a lower flank (second flank) 12B intersecting with the lower sloping face 11B are formed. The upper flank 12A and the lower flank 12B are formed in a way that they have positive release angles, respectively. The upper flank 12A extends from the upper sloping face 11A to the bottom surface, while the lower flank 12B extends from the lower sloping face 11B to the top surface.
[00020] An upper cutting edge (first cutting edge) 13A is formed at an intersecting portion between the upper inclined face 11A and the upper flank 12A. A lower cutting edge (second cutting edge) 13B is formed at an intersecting portion between the lower inclined face 11B and the lower flank 12B.
[00021] The upper cutting edge 13A is, as illustrated in Fig. 3, includes a portion of upper cutting edge 13A_1 extending from the outer peripheral side to the side of the central axis J, of the cutting tool body 31 in a state affixed to the mounting seat 32 of the cutting tool body 31. However, the upper cutting edge portion 13A has an upper corner cutting edge portion 13A_2 formed in two corner portions of the top surface, and this upper corner cutting edge portion 13A_2 is continuous with the upper cutting edge portion 13A_1.
[00022] The upper cutting edge portion 13A_1 reaches a first plane PL1 including the central axis J, crosses from side to side of a second plane PL2 perpendicular to the first plane PL1 and including the central axis J. specifically, as illustrated in Fig. 3, the top cutting edge portion 13A_1 extends approximately parallel on one side of the second PL2 plane from the side of the upper corner cutting edge portion 13A_2 to the central axis J and in a position P1 close to central axis J, intersects with the second plane PL2, and reaches the first plane PL1 through the other side of the second plane PL2. That is, as illustrated in Fig. 3, when the cutting insert 10 is attached to the body of the cutting tool 31, a part of the upper cutting edge portion 13A_1 is formed to pass below the central axis.
[00023] In addition, the upper cutting edge portion 13A_1 is, as shown in Fig. 6, angled in a direction away from a plane P3 perpendicular to the central axis J of the cutting insert 10 and passing through the edge portion top corner cutting edge 13A_2, while moving away from the top corner cutting edge portion 13A_2. In addition, the upper cutting edge 13A is rotationally symmetrical 180 degrees with respect to the central axis K.
[00024] The lower cutting edge 13B is configured in the same way as the upper cutting edge 13A and includes a lower cutting edge portion 13B_1 corresponding to the upper cutting edge portion 13A_1 and a lower corner cutting edge portion 13B_2 corresponding to a top corner cutting edge portion 13A_2. Then, the lower cutting edge portion 13B_1 is, as shown in Fig. 6, angled in a direction away from a plane PL4 perpendicular to the central axis J of the cutting insert 10 and passing through the corner cutting edge portion bottom 13B_2, while moving away from the lower corner cutting edge portion 13B_2. In addition, the lower cutting edge 13B is rotationally symmetrical 180 degrees over the central axis K.
[00025] In addition, the upper cutting edge 13A and the lower cutting edge 13B are rotationally symmetrical 180 degrees about an AX1 axis and an AX2 axis. Here, the axis AX1 and the axis AX2 are perpendicular to each other and are included in a plane passing through the middle between the reference surface 10fA on the top surface and a reference surface 10fB on a bottom surface. That is, the AX1 axis and the AX2 axis are perpendicular to the central K axis.
[00026] The upper cutting edge 13A and the lower cutting edge 13B are rotationally symmetrical 180 degrees over the axis AX1 and the axis AX2.
[00027] A tool user can use both of the two upper cutting edge portions 13A_2 of the upper cutting edge 13A by rotating the cutting insert 10 configured as above by 180 degrees with respect to the mounting seat 32. In addition, the The user can use both two lower cutting edge portions 13A_2 per rotation of the cutting insert 10 by 180 degrees on the axis AX1 or the axis AX2 with respect to the mounting seat 32. That is, on the cutting insert 10, its flanks 12A and 12B have positive release angles, but four corner cutting edge portions 13A_2 and 13B_2 are used.
[00028] In addition, a mounting seat face 33 of the mounting seat 32 on the cutting tool body 31 is, as illustrated in Fig. 2, tilted only by an angle α1 with respect to the central axis J in a plane including the central axis J is perpendicular to the reference surface 31f of the cutting tool body 31 so that the release between the cutting insert 10 affixed to the mounting seat 32 and the workpiece is additionally ensured. In addition, the mounting seat face 33 is, as shown in Fig. 3, tilted only by an angle α2 with respect to a second plane PL2 in a plane perpendicular to the central axis J.
[00029] Subsequently, machining using the cutting tool configured as above will be described by reference to Figs. 8 and 9.
[00030] In Figs. 8 and 9, a prepared hole is not formed in a workpiece 100, but when the cut progresses in a direction of the central axis J through the opening of holes through the turning of the cutting insert 10 affixed to the body of the cutting tool 31, a portion positioned below the central axis of rotation J on the upper cutting edge 13A_1 functions as a central edge, and a machined hole 101 is machined.
[00031] An internal peripheral face of the machined hole 101 is cut by the upper corner cutting edge portion 13A_2. A bottom portion 102 of the machined hole 101 is cut tapered by the upper cutting edge portion 13A_1.
[00032] As described above, according to the cutting tool according to this modality, as the machined orifice 101 can be machined without the formation of the prepared orifice, the number of processes in opening orifices is reduced.
[00033] In the modality described above, the case where the cutting insert 10 is rotationally symmetrical by 180 degrees with respect to the central axis K has been described. However, the modality is not limited to the case, and the case may not have rotational symmetry. In addition, the case where the upper and lower cutting edges of the cutting insert 10 have rotational symmetry with respect to the axes AX1 and AX2 has been described, but the present invention can also be applied to a case of rotational symmetry with respect to only one axis or a case that does not have rotational symmetry.
[00034] In the modality described above, the case has been described as an example, where the shape of the cutting edge is sloped so that it extends in parallel with the periphery of the PL2 plane to the periphery of the central axis J and in order to pass below the central axis J at the periphery of the central axis J. however, the present invention is not limited to this. For example, the shape of the cutting edge may be such that it extends from an outer peripheral side to the side of the central axis J in a direction away from the PL2 plane and then changes its direction and extends towards the plane PL2 and finally, it passes below the central axis J. Industrial Applicability
[00035] The cutting insert and the cutting tool according to the present invention can be applied to the opening of holes and drilling.
