Disposable capsule and method of making a serving of beverage in a beverage vending machine
description
The invention relates to a disposable capsule for producing a portion of a beverage in a beverage vending machine, comprising a capsule part which contains a container containing the liquid, in particular water, and a capsule part which contains a container containing the medium to be extracted, for example Coffee or tea, wherein the two containers are separated by a pressure-rising membrane. The invention further relates to a method for producing a portion of a beverage in a beverage vending machine using a disposable capsule containing a container containing the liquid and a container containing the medium to be extracted, for example coffee or tea, the containers being pressurized from one another disrupting membrane are separated.
Such a capsule and such a method are known for example from DE 2 004 760 Al. As soon as the water in the upper part of the capsule has been heated to approximately 103 ° C, the membrane between the two parts of the capsule is broken up by the resulting overpressure in the container and leaves a circular opening which allows the passage of the heated water. The heated water flows through the coffee in the lower part of the capsule and finally enters a collection chamber whose bottom is also opened by the applied pressure. The heating is maintained to maintain adequate pressure in the upper capsule portion sufficient to remove virtually all water therefrom. In this known capsule, therefore, the water must be heated to a temperature beyond the boiling point, since the vapor pressure is used for the water through the filled with coffee or tea
Press container. The heating must be maintained as long as there is water in the tank.
The invention has for its object to provide a disposable capsule and a method of the type mentioned above, with or with which can be produced in a simpler way, a hot or cold drink.
The object is achieved according to the invention in that the container containing the liquid is designed such that its volume can be reduced under external pressure.
With regard to the method, this object is achieved according to the invention in that the volume of liquid is reduced by reducing the volume of the container containing the liquid, the liquid being pressed out of the container into and through the container containing the medium to be extracted.
In the invention, in the liquid container of the capsule, the volume of liquid is reduced by external pressure, so that the liquid is forced through the container containing the medium to be extracted. Therefore, if a hot beverage is made, the liquid only needs to be heated initially. It can also be exerted a correspondingly high pressure, whereby an optimal pressure flow of the medium to be extracted and a very good extraction effect can be achieved.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the container containing the liquid has a bellows-type compressible jacket. By external pressure, therefore, the container can be deformed and the liquid can be pressed out of the container by the medium to be extracted. This embodiment has a simple structure and the further advantage that the used disposable capsule has a particularly small volume.
In an alternative embodiment, the container containing the liquid has a lid sealed to the interior of the container and displaceable in the direction of the container bottom. In this embodiment, by external pressure on the lid, the container volume is reduced and thereby pressed the liquid through the medium to be extracted.
In a particularly preferred embodiment, the two containers are cylindrical and arranged coaxially with each other. Such a disposable capsule has a particularly small footprint and it is the pressure conditions when applying external pressure particularly favorable. For a good extraction effect, it is also advantageous if the container containing the medium to be extracted has a cross-sectional area which is substantially smaller, in particular one fifth to one tenth, of the largest cross-sectional area of the container receiving the liquid. For the extraction effect, it is also advantageous if the extent of the container containing the medium to be extracted in the flow direction is substantially greater than its largest diameter.
The disposable capsule should be made of a temperature-resistant material for the production of hot drinks, so that it is advantageous if at least the outer components of the disposable capsule are made of aluminum sheet. In one embodiment of the liquid-containing container with a bellows-compressible jacket aluminum sheet is particularly well suited.
The disposable capsule may further contain, as the medium to be extracted, coffee, tea, cocoa, chocolate or soup each in appropriate form. As a liquid, the disposable capsule contains water, which is tuned in terms of its composition to the respective beverage to produce, for example, flawless tea or coffee can. The water contained in the disposable capsule may also be provided with additives to influence the taste, odor or appearance of the beverage to be produced.
In addition, the water may contain solubilizers, for example cow's milk, soy milk or alcohol products. Through these additives, the drink produced can be given a special flavor touch.
For the preparation of a hot beverage, the liquid is first heated in the process according to the invention to a temperature which is preferably below the boiling point and in particular about 85 ° C. It is therefore not necessary in the method according to the invention to heat the liquid or the water in the disposable capsule to a temperature beyond the boiling point, since the heated water is pressed by external pressure by the medium to be extracted.
With the method according to the invention, moreover, especially when special extraction programs are used, it is possible to optimally set the extraction conditions to the respective medium to be extracted. Thus, for example, the extraction speed, the liquid or the extraction temperature and / or the pressure with which the liquid is pressed through the medium to be extracted may preferably be program-controlled, selectable or controllable.
The invention further relates to a beverage vending machine for producing a portion of a beverage using a disposable capsule according to the invention. The beverage vending machine according to the invention has a capsule holder, which can be latched in the drinks vending machine, but otherwise is a separable from the vending machine part and has a handle and a capsule holder. For the production of hot drinks heating elements are installed in the capsule receptacle, which are electrically contacted when snapping the capsule in the drinks vending machine.
A beverage vending machine according to the invention also has an electrically, hydraulically or manually actuable, on the disposable capsule pressure-exerting piston or the like.
Further features, advantages and details of the invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to the drawing, which schematically illustrates embodiments. Show

In the description that follows, designations such as "top", "top", "bottom", "bottom" and the like refer to the illustrations. The use of the parts shown may also be different.
Fig. 1 shows the basic structure of an embodiment of a disposable capsule 1 according to the invention for the preparation of a beverage, such as coffee or tea, cocoa, chocolate, soup and the like in a beverage vending machine or a so-called capsule machine. The capsule 1 consists of an upper capsule part la and a lower capsule part 1b, which are connected to one another. The upper capsule part la has a container 2, which is filled with liquid, the lower capsule part lb has a container 3, which contains the medium to be extracted 5 in the sufficient amount for a serving beverage. Tea is preferably contained as dried, broken tea leaves, coffee in powder form. The liquid in the container 2 is preferably water, for example soft, low-mineral and oxygen-free water. The container 2 filled with the liquid 4 has a substantially larger volume and a substantially larger diameter than the container 3 containing the medium 5 to be extracted. In the embodiments shown in the figures, the upper capsule part 1 a is also formed by the container 2. The containers 2, 3 are preferably cylindrical and arranged coaxially. The container 3 containing the medium 5 has a cross-sectional area which is one-fifth to one-tenth of the largest cross-sectional area of the container 2 receiving the liquid 4.
The container 2 has in particular a volume of 15 ml to 150 ml, the container 3 in particular a volume of 3 ml to 30 ml. The two capsule parts la, lb can be made of a thin aluminum sheet or of a material of similar properties. The upper capsule part la has a lid 2a, a bottom 2b and a jacket 2c. The bottom 2b has centrally an opening to the container 3, which is covered with a membrane 6, which can completely cover the bottom 2b. The jacket 2c is designed bellows-like compressible or foldable, so that in the production of the beverage, as will be described, the lid 2a under external pressure can be moved almost to the bottom 2b.
In the embodiment shown, the container 3 containing the medium 5 to be extracted is elongated cylindrical and bounded at the bottom by a second membrane 7, to which a sieve 8 directly adjoins. The membranes 6 and 7 therefore close the container 3 at the top and bottom. The lower capsule part 1b is extended beyond the container 3 and forms a pouring part 9 for the beverage produced. The two membranes 6, 7 consist of a liquid-tight material, which breaks at an overpressure greater than 10 bar. The sieve 8 is so fine-meshed that, when the membrane 7 is open, liquid but no medium 5 can escape from the container 3.
Another embodiment of a capsule 1 'is shown in FIG. The lower capsule part 1 'b of the capsule 1' corresponds to the lower capsule part 1b of the capsule 1 shown in FIG. 1 and therefore has a container 3 ', a pouring part 9', a membrane 7 'and a sieve 8'. The container 2 'which holds up the liquid 4 in the upper capsule part 1' a is preferably cylindrical in a similar way to the embodiment according to FIG. 1 and has a bottom 2'b and a smooth casing 2'c. Instead of a fixed lid, the container has a punch 10, which is sealed relative to the jacket 2'c, but by external pressure from above in the direction of the arrow PI in Fig. 2 towards the bottom 2'b is movable.
In both embodiments, the liquid 4 in the container 2, 2 ', for example, is forced through the medium 5 in the container 3, 3', in the embodiment shown in FIG. 1 by exerting pressure on the lid 2c and subsequent folding of the jacket 2c, in the embodiment shown in Fig. 2 by moving the punch 10 in the direction of the bottom 2'c. As already mentioned causes the pressure exerted breaking the two membranes 6, 7. The resistance of the medium 5 of the liquid in the container 3, 3 'counteracts, increases the pressure in the container 3, 3', the medium 5 is well flowed through and extracted.
Fig. 3 and Fig. 4 show a possible embodiment of cooperating with a capsule 1 according to the invention components of a beverage dispenser, the other, in particular conventionally executable components are not shown. FIG. 3 shows a variant of a capsule holder 11, which has a handle 12 and a capsule holder 13. The capsule holder 13 has centrally in the section (Fig. 4) stepped executed through opening 14, in which the two capsule parts la, lb and 1 'a, 1' b of the capsule 1, Γ are used substantially accurately fit. On the periphery of the capsule holder 13, a plurality of locking elements 15, for example, locking tabs may be provided, so that the capsule holder 11 can be used in the drinks machine in a known manner and can be engaged by turning.
In the capsule holder 13 heating elements 16, in particular heating wires or the like are installed, which are automatically contacted electrically in a manner not shown in the proper engagement of the capsule holder 11 in the drinks vending machine. For example, by pressing a switch, not shown, on the drinks vending machine, the heating elements 16 are supplied with electrical voltage and heated in such a way by the contact between the Kapselaufhahme 13 and the upper capsule part la or
Container 3, the liquid or water 4 in the container 2. Once the liquid 4 is heated, for example, to about 85 ° C, exerts a piston 17 from the outside pressure on the lid 2a and compresses the container 3, so that the pressurized liquid first breaks the membrane 6 and then the membrane 7. Due to the progressive reduction of the liquid volume in the container 2, more and more liquid is forced through the medium 5 in the container 3.
The pressure exerted on the lid 2a of the container 2 piston 17 can be actuated electrically or hydraulically. Alternatively, an operation of the piston 17 can also be done via a lever attached to the drinks machine by hand from muscle power. Once the beverage portion is finished, the piston 17 is moved up, the capsule holder 11 detected on the handle 12, unlocked by turning and removed from the drinks vending machine. The used capsule 1 can be removed from the capsule holder 11 by merely tilting or turning over. For the capsule shown in Fig. 2, the same capsule holder 11 can be used. The piston 17 moves in this embodiment, the punch 10 along the container shell 2'c to the bottom 2'b.
It is advantageous to provide special extraction programs for different media 5 to be extracted in the drinks machine. Such programs allow, for example, the speed at which the volume of liquid in the container 2, 2 'is reduced to regulate, even regardless of the temperature of the liquid 4. extraction programs, the extraction parameters pressure, temperature and extraction time to the respective optimally adjust the medium 5 to be extracted. Of course, it is also possible to provide a manual adjustment of these parameters.
Special extraction programs allow, above all, the selection of optimal extraction conditions. For certain media to be extracted, it is advantageous, for example, if, in a first step, the medium is moistened at a moderate temperature without an extract being produced for the time being. While the medium 5 to be extracted initially contains many extractables, their concentration decreases in the course of the extraction process. In order to use the medium to be extracted as completely as possible, without diluting the extract formed, it is advantageous to increase the pressure and / or the temperature towards the end of the extraction or additionally or alternatively to reduce the extraction rate. This allows the production of high-quality extracted drinks using a small amount of the medium to be extracted. Furthermore, it is especially with tea, but also in different types of coffee not desired to extract all the substances contained, since too high concentrations or too long extraction processes, such as unwanted bitter substances go into solution. For example, it is known that green tea develops its optimum aroma after twenty to thirty seconds of brewing time, while many low-tint black tea varieties take five to six minutes to develop full flavor. Some types of tea, such as Pu-Erh tea, become practically inedible for longer than thirty seconds at extraction times.
In summary, therefore, it can be stated that for each medium 5 to be extracted or any desired medium composition, there are optimal extraction conditions which can be worked out experimentally if it is possible to set the different extraction parameters independently of each other. This possibility is opened up in the present invention, in particular by the use of special extraction programs.
Of particular advantage in the present invention is further that the liquid 4, which is required for the extraction and thus for the preparation of the beverage, already in a container 2, 2 'is supplied. This measure enables the adjustment of the liquid 4 to the medium 5 to be extracted, and additionally the taste of the beverage produced can be influenced and improved by a corresponding adjustment and / or optimization of the liquid 4. Thus, it is known, for example, that hard water is better suited for the production of tannin-rich teas, while only very soft water should be used for the production of low tannin teas.
By providing the liquid 4 is also achieved independence from the available tap water, it must therefore no water to be refilled, there is no water connection required and it eliminates a descaling of the drinks vending machine. Of particular advantage is further that thereby an independent and reproducible quality of the beverage produced can be ensured. This also ensures a bacteriological and chemical integrity of the beverage, which may be an important aspect against the background of dwindling water reserves, questionable water treatment and contamination of drinking water, not least after accidents, technical infirmity or in Krichngcbictcn.
As a liquid 4 or extraction medium and basis for the drink comes in the first line high-quality, optimal taste-ensuring water in question. The water can be treated to adjust certain properties such as hardness, salinity, pH, and the like. In addition, various additives can be added to the water in order to specifically influence the taste of the beverage, its odor or its appearance, wherein preferably the permitted food additives, furthermore extracts of natural substances and the like come into question. To optimize the extraction, solubilizers can be added to the water. As a solubilizer, for example, milk and / or products of milk and soybean come into question. Alcohols can also improve the extraction as a solubilizer. In addition, alcoholic hot drinks can be produced, such as tea with rum, various alcoholic coffee and cocoa specialties and mulled wine or punch.
Through the use of suitable extraction agents in combination with the possibility of being able to carry out the extraction at any temperature, products such as ice tea, iced coffee, etc. can also be produced with suitable appliances.
