The invention relates to an intermediate lever for a variable valve train of an internal combustion engine, having two side walls which are bridged in a central portion of an axis on which an enclosed by the side walls counter roller for a lifting cam is arranged, wherein at one end face a surface for the variable transmission of Hubes the lift cam sits on a tap of a follower member, wherein at a further end face, the side walls are spanned by a further axis on which a roller package is applied for a slide track and cam contact and wherein the side walls are bridged by a cross bar.
An example of such intermediate lever, consisting here of sheet steel, is removed from Fig. 3 of the drawing and was installed at the time of filing of the present invention by the Bavarian Engine Works in their fully variable valve trains with the internal name "Valvetronic Generation 3".
The fixedly connected to the side walls at the other end crossbar in the aforementioned intermediate lever serves to stabilize the intermediate lever. In addition, it ensures that during assembly of the axles with counter-rotating roller and roller package, the side walls are held in a predetermined position and that the latter remains dimensionally stable in a heat treatment and possibly machining the intermediate lever.
A disadvantage is considered that the cross bar limits the freedom of movement of the intermediate lever and thus the freedom in designing the fully variable valve train is limited. It is an object of the invention to create an intermediate lever without the aforementioned disadvantages. In particular, the intermediate lever should have an improved freedom of movement with a simple construction and be ready or mountable without any adverse effects.
According to the invention this object is achieved in that the crossbar is present as a separate component.
Thus, the aforementioned disadvantages have been resolved. The intermediate lever has an improved clearance, especially in backdrop and cam direction, and can be done by the elimination of hitherto integrally connected crossbar punch punching-bending technology, but also its urformtechnische representation is provided.
The connection of the cross bar as a separate component also allows its arrangement at hitherto difficult or impossible to represent positions such as between the mating roller and the roller package, in the region of an upper side of the intermediate lever. Preferably, the cross bar is positioned in a clearly spaced from the one end face portion of the intermediate lever.
The cross bar can be firmly connected to the side walls according to an advantageous embodiment of the invention. Here, for example, on welding, soldering, clamps, snapping, clipping, caulking, gluing or screws thought.
Alternatively provided is also a built variant in which the crossbar is detachably connected to the side walls. However, it can also be produced by casting or extrusion technology or essentially by machining. On cross bars, which would give the intermediate lever a cross-sectionally U-shaped profile, is advantageously dispensed with, which, for example, is advantageous in terms of lightweight construction.
An alternative design variant for the crossbar is to make this, as proposed according to claim, as a rung or pipe section and run in respective recordings of the side walls. Here also the aforementioned fastening measures come into question.
With minor modifications, the intermediate lever with its essential design features can also be used as a cam follower in a "classic" valve train.

Figure 1 discloses an intermediate lever 1 for a variable valve train of an internal combustion engine. This has two upright side walls 2, which are bridged in a central portion of an axis 3. On the axis 3, a counter-rotating roller 4 is arranged for a lifting cam.
At a first end face 5 extends a surface 6 for the variable transmission of a stroke of the lifting cam on a tap of a follower member present as Schlepphebef. At a further front end 7, the side walls 2 are spanned by a further axis 8, on which a roller package 9 is applied for a slide track and cam contact.
It can be seen in Figure 1, that the side walls 2 of the intermediate lever 1 are bridged at its top 12 by a separate, here removable crossbar 10. In the region of Endstirnen 14 of the cross bar 10 has claw-like inwardly directed lugs 15.
